How can I remove a previously linked device, so I can link a new one?

I tried to install Dropbox on my new computer.  It says it is limited to three and that is all I have. The problem is, I think, is that it still has my prior laptop registered (with an iPad and iPhone as second and third). My laptop, a MS Surface Book, was damaged and has been replaced with the same type of computer (thanks to the damage insurance). I only need to install Dropbox on this laptop now (as I've had to do with all other apps). There will still only be three.

Right now I can't install and use it on my new computer.

So how can I remove that prior computer from my account so I can install the app on my new one?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hey cjthelder, thanks for reaching out to us.

If you'd like to remove a previously linked device from your account, you need to delete it from your account settings here.

Once the number of connected devices is below 3, you should be able to connect a new one.

I hope this helps, but if you need anything else, please let us know.

Thank you.  I found my iPhone, iPad, and a laptop listed as being linked.  The laptop was an old one, so I unlinked it.  Now I have only my iPhone and iPad linked.  I guess I will just re-install the app so it will recognize my new laptop, correct?

Thank you.  I will get to it.  I've got so many other problems right now on this computer that I must take care of as well.
