Turn off transfer notifications & emails globally and by default.

We love Dropbox transfers, but we don’t need an email saying that we just created a transfer, 5 seconds after we created a transfer.

Transfer download notifications and emails are also extremely annoying. Some of our transfers are downloaded by dozens of people. I don’t need 50 emails plus 50 desktop alerts.

We know that we can turn off download notifications for individual transfers, but we should be able to set this as a default.

Please add transfers to the notifications page in settings so we can control these settings globally.

Hi from me as well, AnybodyM2.

Rest assured that your input has already been logged internally. As already mentioned, at the moment, it's only possible to disable notifications for downloads.

I do understand where you're coming from though, so I will make sure to include these comments in your feedback as well.

Having said that, if there's something else we can check or do to help, please don't hesitate to reach out again.

    Thanks!

I also get an email when the transfer is created. During creation of the transfer I can see no way of disabling this. Why are you spamming your paying customers? This is atrocious behavior. In the setting of the account I have all notifications disabled except new device and app linkages. Why is dropbox not respecting my settings?

The problem is the setting does NOT affect the emails. They still get delivered because they are a spammy marketing upsell tactic. Download notifications are explicitly disabled for the transfer but dropbox does still sends me an email "your transfer will expire in 1 day - want more time? Pay us more!!!"

Hey AnybodyM2! Welcome back to our Community.

If you try to open a new transfer on your Dropbox account, the setting for download notifications should now be set to Off by default.

Regarding the emails you keep receiving though, I’d recommend opening a new idea for this on our forum (by following these tips), so that our users can vote for it, as well.

I’ll be here for anything else you may need.
