3 months agoHi swap0, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and Iām sorry to hear this happened.
From what I understand, you were invited to join a Dropbox team with your personal plan, and now it seems that your Dropbox account has been deleted. Is this correct?
First, it's very important for me to state that when someone joins a Dropbox team, the account and the content within become subject to the admin's control, in accordance with our Terms of Service.
With that in mind, in order to be able to regain access to the files, one needs to contact the team admin and ask them to restore their membership and then convert their Dropbox account to a personal plan.
Having said that, if this is something you've already tried, then it would be best to get in touch with our support team directly. If you've already done that, please make sure to share your ticket ID here, so that I can check the progress of your help request and add an internal note from my side, highlighting the urgency of the request.
Other than that, Iāll be here in case you need something else.

Hi Nancy , thanks for your concern and advise ..i am at tethers here and fully frustrated at such a feature provided by dropbox for transferring account data and control to any company admin by just clicking an invitation mechanism and a single popup telling personal account holders about the merger if his accounts (this is absurd -expecting long time users to know nitty gritty details of your terms of service which gives away their data and control without a proper cooling time or explaining in clear terms the impact of accepting a company account invite or showing red danger activity for account takeover and losing your data ). Now imagine the other company is a fraud and is using this feature as a hostage for controlling your personal data which was unknowingly attached to company account. this is such a huge property violation . And this data hostage fraud is happening to me by the company admin and dropbox is supporting that.

Hi Thomas
Thanks for contacting me and bringing a sense of relief that dropbox does care for it's users and their data.
kindly note my response to your queries
Would you like me to reach out to your team Admin to see if they would allow for the recovery of your account?
Yes , please reachout , i have already raised multiple request to my past business partner who is the team admin of the company and he is intentionally not restoring my account due to fallout between us in hackbook.ai. -startup we were woking out for the past 7 months
Again, if they do not provide a positive confirmation to restore the account, then Dropbox Support will not be able to recover the account on your behalf.
I am doubtful of any response from anish (anish.hackbook), but i have raised a legal notice detailing the unauthorised usage and control of my personal account.- I have attached it for your reference
You can also reach out to them to request the restore of the account but I do presume that this is something that you likely have already done.
I have already done that multiple times but no response .
kindly let me know what i need to do - purchase subscription to get my account & data back
thanks & regards swapnil
