How I use Dropbox: Melissa

We use Dropbox everyday at work, but learning how our co-workers use Dropbox in their ‘real’ lives is always interesting. Whether it’s the big things, (like this one) or the small, everyday things to keep our lives on track - we want to know about it!

For now, check out how Melissa (a Dropbox Backup expert) uses a Dropbox folder to manage her house hunting and eventual purchase!

Learn how Melissa uses Dropbox to organize house hunting

A couple years ago, my husband and I officially started our house search for our “forever home.” One of the first things we did was get pre-qualified for our loan, which required gathering tons of bank statements, credit card statements and more. Anyone who has gone through this can understand just how much paperwork there is, and how urgent it can be to have it all prepared. You don’t want to let your dream house slip through your fingers because you were missing the right piece of paper.

To keep it all centralized, I created a shared folder that my husband and I could both easily access and drop our docs into. Having everything together in one place made it so much easier to gather and later find and reference all the docs we collected. Photos, scans, text documents, all in the one folder so that we knew everything within our control was in order.

Once we started the house search, I created folders for each house we had decided to put an offer on (including photos of the house, a link to the listing, disclosure docs, and our signed offer). This kept everything organized that we could both easily access.

Once we finally got our offer accepted, I added all of our loan docs and signed contracts too.Dropbox was a super helpful tool for helping us organize our house hunting.

We love that. If you’re not quite at the house buying stage, you can check out how I used Dropbox to get organized for renting, or if you already have a home, check out how Ross used it to decorate his place, and if none of that sounds up your alley, check out how Kevin used Dropbox Paper to track new music finds
