Although all the settings say it should be, my recently installed copy of Dropbox on a new W11 machine is not autostarting on switch on. I'm having to start it manually. One PC and 2 iOS systems can use the account. Old PC previously disconnected.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Dropbox used to work fine until 2 weeks ago. No major change to my system besides Windows11 updates.
Now, DB will not start after a cold start, only after a reboot.
Thank you for your help.

I had done a trial run of TotalAV and it seems that when it scanned my system, it removed Dropbox completely from my Settings > Apps > Startup list, so I don't even see Dropbox as an available app. If I start the app manually (this is Win 11, by the way), I see the setting to start with Windows, which is enabled, but it still does not open at startup. Is there perhaps a registry hack to fix this? Or what's wrong? Thanks.
Hey @Andrew S.2 - sorry to hear about this.
Could you please let us know the app's version as shown in your taskbar?
Also, does the issue persist if you temporarily disable TotalAV?

I have uninstalled TotalAV. Interestingly, it also removed OneDrive startup (MS website provided a registry fix), as well as a few other utilities (none of which are critical).
I'm hesitant to uninstall and reinstall because i'm always afraid my local Dropbox folders and files will disappear, it's happened before, and I hate having to reconfigure all the folder syncs, etc. It always causes major headaches.
As another FYI, if I go to Windows Settings > Apps I do see Dropbox in the list, but the only option on the 3 dots menu is uninstall. And in the taskbar Startup settings, Dropbox is not listed.
Sorry, another edit. 🙂
I have also tried unchecking the Start with Windows checkbox in the app, clicking Apply, then OK, restarting my computer, then re-enabling it, clicking Apply, then OK, restarting my computer and that didn't work either.
@WalterIs there a registry key that is not being updated when you enable/disable the autostart in the taskbar app?
Hi @Andrew S.2, would you be cool to download the installer, and run it without uninstalling the app first?
Also, when you open the device, and the app doesn't launch, do you see any Dropbox related activity in your task manager?
