Need help with temporarily disabling Dropbox

I need to try to take an exam on my computer, but the program won't allow me to with Dropbox running (dbxsvc). How do I disable it safely so I can take my test and then re-enable it after?

Hi @kkarisa, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

You can quit the Dropbox desktop application entirely, which will exit the program and stop it from syncing.

Once you're done with the exam, you and start it up again like a normal program on your machine.

Keep me updated with any progress!

Hi, thank you for your quick reply. I think I tried "quitting" it, but it didn’t go how I expected. I clicked on the Dropbox symbol on the Taskbar that shows notifications, syncing, etc (not the one that opens my Dropbox folder). Then I think I went to the top and clicked "quit." The Dropbox button vanished from the Taskbar, but the exam center dialog box that told me to close the program still detected it as running. And now I don't know how to get the button back. I tried the Taskbar settings, but Dropbox is still listed as allowed to show up there. I am considering just unistalling Dropbox from the control panel, but I'm not sure I'll know how to set it up again like how it is now if I do that.

Go into Task Manager and find the remaining Dropbox tasks, right-click on each one and select End task.
