A new "feature" has been implemented where if I drop a new file in a DB folder, and then go to click on "Copy Dropbox Link", it simply won't perform the task until the file has finished uploading.
Apparently this is to "prevent 404 errors". The "error" page that comes up when you clicked on a link before it had finished uploading was actually a "Uh Oh! File hasn't finished uploading yet". This to me isn't an "error" page and shouldn't be treated as such. It's clear and communicates exactly what it needs to and doesn't warrant a restriction in functionality for the rest of the users.
The solution you've silently implemented has caused a monstrous delay in my daily workflow.
I work in a fast paced environment, generating new content every hour and sharing it with dozens of people in my team. The fact that I can simply drop files and right-click and "copy link" and THEN carry on with the rest of my tasks while keeping an eye out for the spinning icon in the tray and THEN send the copied link to my recipients, means that I am FLOWING.
When I have to do that dozens of times per hour, if you block me from generating a link as soon as I drop it in the DB folder, you're forcing me to having to RETURN back to DB a second time in the process. You've added a whole extra step, and it's absolutely killed my flow.
Hi Everybody,
I'm checking into confirm whether or not this is still affecting any users. From what I'm seeing, this was fixed for mac users with a macos update, but Windows users may still be affected. @Rexxyboy was this issue resolved for you?
Feel free to reply here and let me know. If this issue is persisting, I will make sure it gets passed onto the right team for resolution.
Regards,
Ben
Yeah, been working well for me so far (OSX)! thanks for the fix!
Hi Ben, not resolved on Win 11. It was working fine for a few months without needing upload to finish, but now it seems persistent.
Recapping my issue: Upload a 150mb rar (zipped) file to dropbox, then right click the file in the dropbox folder, dropbox context menu does not appear until the upload is complete. If i go deeper into the right click menu, there is a native "Copy Dropbox Link" option there (not dedicated dropbox context menu), if i click that, i get a popout notification saying "Cannot copy link/path not found". Dropbox context menu only appears after the upload is complete. It seems to work more often as expected with smaller individual files (docs, gifs, xls files etc).
Hi @Rexxyboy,
Thanks for getting back to me. I have shared this with the appropriate team for further investigation. I will let you know when we have more information.
If anyone else is experiencing this error, please post here to let me know.
Regards,
Ben
Hi @Rexxyboy,
In order to further assist you, we need to gather a bit more information. Would you mind if we reached out via email?

Ben
Happy to report it is working now. It's taking longer for the blue context menu to appear, up to 7 seconds, but it does appear and i can copy the link before the download is up! It used to appear after a second or so, it's just taking a lot longer, but confirm it's working.
I'm guessing the longer delay is windows 11 pro indexing of context menu items is updating each time i right click, and just super slow, that could be a lot more efficient on microsoft's part, i do have a few custom right-click items, Bulk Rename Here, new folder with items, among others!
Thanks to all, have a great day!
Rexx.
