Stopping synchronisation of Dropbox on Mac OS12

Stopping synchronisation of Dropbox on Mac OS12

So. I'm still active with MacOS12. I still like it and my Mac can't handle an upgrade to a higher level. I heard that my version of Dropbox will no longer be supported. And especially the synchronization.
That's a problem. Does this really mean that I have to say goodbye to my old Mac and buy a newer machine to be able to use Dropbox? And say goodbye to all the software like QuicKeys, DragThing, BBEedit that I use every day and can't miss? And from Adobe 5 (Acrobat, InDesign and Photoshop) to be forced to swap for a new version that will cost me 50 euros a month? Really?
Or is there another solution to continue Dropbox with synchronization?

Hey @eduardbekker, thanks for posting to the Dropbox Community today.

I do understand where you're coming from and we really appreciate your feedback here.

Unfortunately, as of June 2023, the Dropbox desktop app will no longer work on any Mac device running macOS 10.12 or older.

You can take a look at this article for more info on what you can do about this.

Let me know if you have any questions.

You can continue to use the Dropbox website, uploading and downloading files as needed, but you won't be able to sync using the Dropbox desktop application.

Thank you Rich

So there if there is no possibility to sync through google chrome or other browsers I will have to use another app than dropbox to sync.  too bad because I have always been satisfied with dropbox.

Will the Dropbox client on macOS 10.13 High Sierra continue to work after June 2023?

TIA

HI @eduardbekker, this change only affects Mac OS 10.12 Sierra, so 10.13 High Sierra will continue to function after that date.

I feel also very sad about this decision...

My Imac from 2011 is still working nicely , so you are responsible for a planned obsolescence !

I really liked Dropbox and used it everyday for years and was happy to pay for it.

This is a huge disappointement.

Hi @Mathildea, thanks for the feedback. We regularly release new versions of the Dropbox desktop app with additional features, better performance, and security enhancements, and these are not always compatible with older systems.

Apple stopped providing security updates to macOS 10.12 in 2019. Due to this, we are ending our support of the Dropbox desktop app for these operating systems to keep our product offerings in-line.

Thank you but I won't use dropbox online, it's useless.

If Apple is doing planned obsolescence, please,  be smarter and try to support your program for our still working computers.
