How do I download files from a link sent to me?

How do I download files from a link sent to me?

Got an Email with a link to download some files. When I open the link, my Email is allready written, only a password missing.

Is this a my email/my password combination or my email/file access password(from the person sending the files)?

My email/my password does not work and the person sending the files claims they did not put a password on the link/files.

Thank you!

ML

This doesn't appear to be a genuine link, since the Dropbox icon is a very old version, and our interface doesn't look like that.

When you hover over the blue link, what is the URL that appears? Is it a genuine dropbox.com address?

I'd recommend changing your Dropbox password immediately on the official site since this site you accessed now has your official login. If you use the same email and password elsewhere, I'd also recommend changing all those passwords as well.

Hi @deleteusernamehistory, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Are you certain that this is a Dropbox link you followed? Was this an official email or a link someone sent to you?

A screenshot showing what you're seeing (while hiding your email address) would help us greatly!

Hi Jay,

thank you for the quick reply. The link was copied and sent to me through an email of the sender;

I click on the link an the site opens offering me to download;

Then as I click to download the sign in appears;

I changed and updated my password in google passwrods, it is the correct password. I click sign in and get a "Invalid Email/Password Combination". With the same email and password combination i can sign into dropbox just fine, but not here.

Now it makes sence. The person wrote me, that some partner that does not speak German was in copy and so we wrote in english. Also the phone number was missing a number so I couldnt call. Someone is pretending to be this guy. I am contacting the company to let them know. I changed my password and it is only for dropbox where at the moment I have no content.

Thank you for the warning!!!

If you use that same password (or a variation of it) with any other service, you should change those as well. In fact, I'd use this as an opportunity to update the passwords for ALL of the services you use. Better safe than sorry, especially where your data and identity are concerned.
