View, download, and export

Hello world. Till today to open a selected file (e.g. .jpeg) from my Dropbox folder in Lightroom or other editor I just long tapped the image and the drop menu showed "Open with...." - then I could select the app.
Now long tap returns only two menu options: Copy and save. Is it a bug or a new Dropbox feature? How to open files in other apps now?
I see, thanks for keeping me in the loop here.
Another way to go about this, would be to open the photo, tap on the "..." (ellipsis) button, save the image to the device and then open it with your third party apps through there.
Or even better, open the file from the Dropbox folder location in your Files app and open it with the third party apps from there.
That should also save the changes on the file to Dropbox automatically, without having to re-upload it manually.

Hey @Lexeyich , thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community.
Are you referring to exporting (or opening with a third party app) files through our mobile app? If so, are you using an Android or an iOS device?
And which version of Dropbox do you have installed? Is it the latest one (304.2.2)?
Once I have this info, I'll be able to provide better answers for you.
Thanks!

Hi Hannah, and thank you! Yes, I use iPad (IOS) app for both Dropbox and Lightroom and yes, I use the latest version of Dropbox available in AppStore (not sure where to look for exact version number but during the update it showed 304.2 I guess).
Please let me know.
Warm regards,
Lexeyich
Update: Dropbox version on both iPad and iPhone is 304.2 (the latest available as I can see) - and the problem remains. BUT: there is no such problem on iPhone: long tap on image gives "Copy-Save to Camera Roll - Open in..." while on iPad the same long tap returns "Copy-Save Image" only.
Would appreciate your help. Thank you!
Thanks for the update, Lexeyich.
I see the "Open in.." option on my own device too, so it must be something specific to your iPad.
Have you restarted the device at all ever since this started happening?
Can you also clear the Dropbox app's cache, from the app's settings, to see if that helps?

Hi Hannah, following your advice I have restarted the iPad and cleared cache in Dropbox app itself.
Unfortunately this has not helped 😞 Attaching the screenshot to illustrate what I see.
Is there any alternative way to open the file from Dropbox folder (other than long tap on image)?

The latter might work indeed (still as a workaround though). Hope the next software update will fix this bug on my iPad - thank you!
I'm having a similar problem where the application used to open files stored on Dropbox is, 'dropbox'. This is useless as you cannot open a jpeg in the dropbox app. As a Mac, the default is Preview and this creates an error. I can work around by opening the Get Info, but this is something that happened with the recent update to the way Dropbox handles data. Additionally, the upgrade has changed the Documents and Desktop on my MacBook to alias therefore no longer under my control NOT HAPPY. PLEASE help
Hey @cichti, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Could you please clarify your device's exact OS version and the version and status of the Dropbox desktop app as shown in your menu bar?
Did you enable the Dropbox Backup feature at some point perhaps?
