1454 TopicsLogged out of the Dropbox app and back in and now I have a 'Dropbox (old)' and a 'Dropbox' folder
Application Affected Synching files Device PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Windows Desktop Question or Issue Had a funny problem with the Windows Explorer status icons not all being corrected, and saw a recommended to "simply" sign out of Dropbox and sign back in. Simple enough. Which I did. I then got a pop up asking me (telling me really) to rename my Dropbox folder. I said OK, and I now have a Dropbox and Dropbox (old) in the User directory. All of my files are in (old). None are in new. Every link on my PC to my old files is now of course broken. I paused syncing because I am worried Dropbox is going to try and create an entirely new copy of all of my files in the new Dropbox folder. Does anyone know what it going on here? And how to put things back to they way they were before? Why on earth would a logout/login totally reorganize all of my files??? I'm kind of dead in the water right now so any help would be greatly appreciated. Dropbox support seems to be non-existent.46Views0likes6Comments"Pause Sync" does not automatically restart on my Windows device.
After the new app update, when I "Pause Sync" for 30 minutes or 1 Hour, it does not restart syncing after the selected time. It does say something like "File syncing and backups paused until 1:11 PM" but it does not start syncing again at that time and stays paused until I manually choose Resume Sync. Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 11 and Windows 10) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) (238.4.6075) Question or Issue This problem has bothered me for a while, I don't remember since when, but currently whenever I tried to save something into a Dropbox synced folder (such as a Powerpoint file or Word document) on Windows, the dropbox would start to sync all the supposedly online-only files within the folder and the syncing is really really slow. Most importantly, the syncing process would freeze the entire Save-As dialog and nothing can be done before the syncing is finished. This is not just limited to MS Office, but also other apps as well. Directly access the folder through Windows Explorer is OK. I am not sure if this is an Windows issue or a Dropbox issue. I suspect accessing the folder through an app other then Windows-Explorer would trigger Dropbox to believe you are trying to access all the files in that folder. I have updated Dropbox app to the newest version as suggested by support. And it happens on both of my desktop PC and laptop PC. Also I'd like to point out that I am accessing Dropbox through a proxy, which may explain the slow-syncing issue. Does anyone have similar experiences?41Views0likes4CommentsDocument Load Error
Is anyone else having trouble opening documents in Paper? I just wanted to review a couple to determine if I was scrapping the associated projects or saving them, but the site keeps giving me errors when I try to open them. :/ I know the general... everything around Paper has been declining over the last couple years, but this is a new one for me. The error states: "How embarrassing… We experienced an error trying to load the current page." I've already emailed support, but curious how widespread it is and if it's just one more sign to abandon ship.4Views0likes0CommentsMicrosoft Office files won't open for a specific user with an error
Integration Affected Microsoft Office Device Surface Laptop 5 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Question or Issue One of our employees is experiencing an issue with opening files saved in Dropbox intermittently. Others are able to open the files and the user can usually open the file after a few minutes have passed. This happens both when a file was just modified by another user and when a file has not been modified in days and no one else has the file open. It also occurs if a file is saved with "Autosave" toggled on or toggled off. The user can open the file via the File Explorer context menu to open the file in Dropbox.com and then in PowerPoint/Excel/Word. Is there a way to fix this as the work around takes time and interferes with the employee's workflow.16Views0likes1CommentI can't move, copy or delete content from within the Dropbox folder on my Windows 11.
Device My awesome PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Win11 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Question or Issue We have old/historical jpeg/photos on drop box. I am having trouble moving, copying, pasting individual photos. When I try to move, copy, delete it seems to get stuck on the attached system process -> Windows says calculating, but doesn't seem to progress further. I also cannot see a preview of these files in the thumbnail/folder, they are just blank, though newer files in the same folder do have the preview image. I am trying to move bulk files though I cannot even move individual files ATM. Its only old files that we've not opened/viewed for years. Any ideas?21Views0likes2CommentsDropbox folder missing from indexed locations for searching on Windows 10
Device HP Desktop Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Syncing Status Up To Date Question or Issue I've not been able to find documents using search in my dropbox folder for a few weeks. I went to indexing options to remove dropbox from indexing and re-add it hoping it would rebuild the index. IT'S NOT THERE TO SELECT AT ALL!! I have my dropbox as a fold in Documents. When I go to C Users Myname Documents, dropbox is not there. I've right clicked the folder and in properties, went to advanced, UNCHECKED allow this folder to have contents indexed and applied that. Then I went back and checked it so they could be indexed and applied that. Dropbox is still not in the indexing options list of folders.224Views1like29CommentsHow can I move my Dropbox files to a new computer?
Windows 11 Pro Dropbox I have this Dropbox installed on my now much older and computer and want to move this over to my newest, extremely faster new system. Both are on my home network. What is the step by step process to copy or move this data? When the move is complete there will be no new data sent to the old computer. The data is a massive amount of telescope images taken remotely and sent as taken to this account. The system is in California while I am in Virginia. Currently this account has just over 1TB of raw data to be moved. The old drive in the old computer will be removed and stored as a physical backup. I just want the quickest way to transfer the data please and the step by step process to accomplish this. I'm 71 years old, somewhat comfortable with computer systems however this new Windows 11 Pro will take some getting use to. The new computer has 2 - 2TB m.2 hard drives and 2 - 16 TB 3.5" hard drives. The second m.2 drive is mainly used as swap folder space for image processing. I've used Dropbox for years but know little of the inner workings. I install, usually with some issue it seems, then it just does its thing. Thanks, Steve39Views0likes5CommentsOld Dropbox folders displayed in Windows File Explorer. How to remove them?
I have several DropBox folders on my desktop computer - Dropbox, Dropbox (Old), Dropbox (Old (1)), Dropbox (Old (2)). I don't know how this happened. I tried deleting some but lost my desktop icons and had to resore them all back to square one! With all these duplicate folders I don't know where my files are being copied to. How can I rationalise my DropBox setup, please?37Views0likes1CommentWhat will the modification date be once I download my Dropbox files using the app?
Hi, I want to reinstall Windows on my PC. Then I want to reinstall Dropbox and download all the data back to my PC via the Dropbox app. What will the modification date of the downloaded files be? Will it be the day of the download, or will it remain unchanged?38Views0likes1Comment
