56 TopicsStop renaming my files! (on auto phone upload)
Video files ( possibly photos too ) get renamed on automatic upload from the phone to Dropbox. There must be a really good reason for Dropbox to rename files and I'd like to hear it. It's very annoying because the file names are perfectly fine the way they are and so I can keep track easier for missing files, innterrupted transfers, moved files and so on. It's a mess with video files especially becuase: - Phone writes the video file with date time at the start of the video ( that's what it should be ) - Drobox renames the file with date time when the file was closed ( finished recording ). So, can we please not mess with my video files names ? Thanks ! video, file, rename, date, time, metadata, offset, unnecessary5.3KViews7likes5CommentsAndroid Scanner Creating Pixelated PDFs
I have been using the scanner feature on my Android device to create PDF documents for quite a while. After a recent update, the scanner is creating distorted files with pixelation when I use the Black and White scan setting. I have viewed the documents on other devices in other apps and the problem is the file that the Dropbox scanner creates. I have tried other scanning apps on the device and the scans are fine. Has anyone else observed this problem? If so, is there a solution?5.3KViews3likes31CommentsHow to shortcut a dropbox FILE on android phone
I was trying to find a way to create a shortcut icon on my androidphone when suddenly dropbox (or Word) asked spontanously that would you like to create a shortcut to this file??? but the question hasn't appeared again and I haven't found a way to do it to other files. Please help me out, it would be so handy to have instant access to a specific file.5.8KViews3likes3CommentsShow destination folder name/path for 'Share to Dropbox'
Android OS: Share>Upload to Dropbox>'Choose upload location': That dialog window does not show the name/path of the destination folder it is displayingto the user. Often this forces the user to tap 'back' several times to see what node of the folder tree the app will send the file(s) to. If the user hasn't done a recent 'Share>Add to Dropbox' operation, they have no memory of what the last destination folder path was. Please help the user know right away the name/path if the default destination folder. Thank you. P.S. I wish this feedback system would allow for screenshots to be uploaded.1.3KViews2likes12CommentsHow to enable specific folder auto backup on my Android device to Dropbox?
Hi Dropbox Team, I hope you are well. Is this option available? Can you please let me know? I may be unable to find the setting. I found this thread which leads me to believe this option is unavailable for android users? I've selected a folder. I've successfully uploaded to dropbox. I have the free 2GB plan/account. I'd like to be able to turn on (enable) autosync or autoupload for that specific folder. It is the only folder I am backing up. I need the android device as a master. https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-ideas/Can-we-have-the-option-to-automatically-backup-on-the-mobile-app/idi-p/460938 Thanks.3.5KViews2likes6CommentsPhoto uploads on Android not working unless I open the app
Hi, I have the photo uploader feature turned on on my Samsung Galaxy S7, which I believe works overall. Although I have noticed that if I need it to upload a photo that I have recently taken, I need to open up the app on my phone before it will upload. I took a photo this morning; 4 hours later it still hadn't uploaded by itself. Once I opened up the app, it uploaded immediately. Older photos have been uploaded eventually, although I don't know how long it took. Any ideas on how to get this to happen immediately, without intervention? Thanks! Device Oneplus 13 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Android 16, OxygenOs 16.0.2 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 454.2.2 Syncing Status OK Question or Issue When dropbox automatically uploads newly captured photos by my phone and uploads them to the 'Camera Uploads' folder, I am noticing that some* (NOT ALL) photos are being uploaded with a lesser quality. Resolution of the photo is the same, but the file size is significantly smaller, sometimes 60% less, and the picture quality is visibly very hazy. Is there some setting which I am not finding to fix this? *Some photos meaning that for example if I am out taking a set of say 10 photos, #1,#2 would upload with original quality/file size, while #3,#4,#5 will upload with lesser quality/file size, #6 with original, #7,#8#9 with lesser, and #10 with original quality. It's super random.502Views1like11CommentsWe can no longer add an expiration date or password for our shared links on Family.
Hello, We used to be able to set a password or expiry time for shared files and folders in Dropbox Family. Now this this has been disabled with a prompt to upgrade to "Dropbox Professional". Have certain features been removed from the Dropbox Family plan ? Given that I'm on a "Grandfathered" plan (not sure that's the right word), I have not been notified that any features had been removed. I paid annually and assumed features would remain the same. Dropbox doesn't publicly list the Dropbox Family plan anymore, even though it's listed publicly. Thanks in advance.572Views1like6CommentsScanned Document as PDF just does not upload on Android App (Samsung smartphone)
Dropbox Pro user here. I am camera-scanning a document with my phone and trying to upload it as a PDF to my Dropbox folder. The upload progresses really quickly all the way until 100% (no network issues here, using Wi-Fi), but it gets stuck "Sending..." at 100% and just never finishes the upload. I confirm that I can upload regular files (including PDFs) from my phone to Dropbox, and I can scan into JPG files and upload them. It's only the PDF scanning option that isn't working, as far as I can tell. I suspect that the cause is the OCR post-processing... Things I've tried (none of them worked): - Killing the app - Clearing the app cache - Using Data connection instead of Wi-Fi - Restarting the phone - Updating the App: it is already at its latest version Phone Model: Samsung A54 Android App Version: 352.2.2 Has anyone else had the same issue or is this specific to me? Would really appreciate some help to solve this.Solved14KViews1like8Comments
