I have an upgraded (from Win8 to Win10 Pro) PC and this evening Dropbox won't start and pops up the 'Dropbox is removing support for Windows 7,8 and 8.1. Exit Dropbox' popup box. I have downloaded the offline installer (Dropbox 210.5.4894 Offline Installer.x64.exe). I am loathe to do this as I don't know exactly what it will do. I purchased a new computer and am running Windows. When I start my computer a box pops up that says "Dropbox Can't Open". It gives the error message of C:Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\dropbox_error-r3btez.txt I checked my firewall security and it is allowing Dropbox. I have talked to Geek Squad and they could not find the issue. Any suggestions on what the issue is and what I can do to fix it would be appreciated.34Views0likes9CommentsI can't open my desktop app settings, so that I can move my Dropbox folder to an external drive.
This has been happening since my last computer... What I would like to do is sync my dropbox to save to my external drive; however, I cannot access the dropbox app to go to sync settings and trying to simply move it doesn't work. Settings for this are not avaiable online and im worried that if i uninstall the app I'll lose all my saved folders that I've pinned on my computer (which i guess I can just re add) I've tried looking at my antivirus software as well, but that didn't help as dropbox doesn't seem to be blocked. this would free up a ton of storage, so please help!46Views0likes3CommentsHigh RAM usage on Mac OS
Hello all, Dropbox user since decades back. I'm on Mac Silicon (M1 laptop, 8GB RAM). Dropbox takes up ≈5GB out of my 8. Obviously a problem, and googling around reveals that this has plagued Dropbox since at least 2021. I know there are thousands of users suffering from this, and I also know I can restart Dropbox every morning to keep it in check - but I was wondering if anyone actually found a longterm solution? Data: MacOS 11.6 8GB RAM Dropbox version 208.4.5824 Selective Sync on (Only sync about half of my folders) Amount of files in Dropbox: around 43'000 files&folders Most folders "online only" (to save HDD space) Dropbox Badge: off Symptom: RAM-usage after a Dropbox restart: ≈600MB. RAM-usage after 7 days: ≈4-6GB. (No major changes to Dropbox content during this period) Thanks in advance, / A352Views0likes6CommentsDropbox app doesn't launch automatically in the menu bar (Mac)
Since I updated Dropbox recently, the app no longer launches automatically nor does it appear in the top toolbar whenever I start up my MacBook. I have to manually launch it every time. I have looked at my list of login items in Mac Preferences, and Dropbox is definitely checked. Does anyone know if I can make the app launch automatically again?12Views0likes1CommentThe app re-indexes all files after each restart on Mac.
Each time I restart my Mac, Dropbox goes through reindexing of (seemingly) all files in my folder. The Mac's CPU usage goes up and the fan kicks in - it makes the computer slow for at least 15 minutes. It does finally complete, but it would obviously be much better if this did not happen.14Views0likes3CommentsI get an error message that Windows System Restore failed?
Hi When I run Windows System Restore it fails with this error message System Restore failed to replace the file (D:\Users\*******\Dropbox\.dropbox.cache\qebcobkqbgbzfynfuwbof\placeholder.bat) with its original copy from the restore point. An unspecified error occurred during restore. (0x80070780) I have completed system recovery from an image without problem but on several occasions I have come up against this error when trying to correct a problem using system restore which would be easier to use if I could. I still have the problem if I run the system restore in safe mode with the same failour message Any suggestions on allowing the restore to work RichardSolved29KViews3likes144CommentsSync icons are missing in Explorer on Windows 10
The green icons next to files and folders signifying whether file(s) are on-line or off-line only are no lonher displaring. It was at one time showing a green checkmark or an empty cloud icon, now, nothing. When I rigt click on the file, the dropdown menu still give me the option to choose whether to make available on-line only or local. I'm running Win 10 on a Lenovo T530 Laptop. Any help would be apptrciated. Thanks.Solved36Views0likes8CommentsHow does the Back button work in Windows Explorer?
Our CEO uses Dropbox and recently we witness a issue I'm not seeing a resolution for here. He stated that it started within the last couple weeks, but when navigating DropBox folders when using the back arrow it will sometimes take him to a random folder in DropBox. He has hundreds of folders and some 6+ subfolders deep. It will take him to a folder when he is trying to go back that is not in the same subfolder and he has to start back at the root folder of Dropbox.37Views0likes2Comments
