Hello - I had a hard drive that died. I downloaded "EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard for Mac" and was able to recover everything. However, when I hit "Recover," then pick DropBox for its destination, it says I don't have enough space, which is wrong. I have 2 TB of space, and I'm only using 8.1% of that space. I AM trying to transfer 550 GB, but I have plenty of room. Anyone know how I can rectify this?Solved105Views0likes6CommentsFile version history not working. I get a vague error when I try to check.
Question or Issue Since this morning, the file version history no longer works on any file in my dropbox. The error screen that appears is "Error Something went wrong. Donât worry, your files are still safe and the Dropbox team has been notified. Check out our Status Page to see if there is a known incident, our help center and forums for help, or head back to home." Question or Issue I received a notification that I'm over my free storage limit but when I click on 'manage files' the screen returns to the storage notification after a few seconds so I cannot delete any files. I'm stuck in a loop! I can't even see my files but I suspect a friend has uploaded a large file into a folder I've shared with her. If I can sort the issue so I can see my files, will I still be able to delete that file she shared or will she have to do it? She's away at the moment so cannot access to delete. For well over a year, I have been able to trim video clips straight from Dropbox, replace the original file and download them when needed. I have noticed however, that over the course of the last week, I have been unable to do this, and receive the following error: Canât save the changes Something went wrong and we werenât able to save the changes to this file. I have tried this on different computers, and on my personal and work Dropbox account, and continue to get the same error. If I choose the "create a copy" option, I am able to successfully trim the clip, however only if I do not change the file name, ensuring the existing file name with the word "(edited)" at the end is there. If I attempt to change the file name when saving a copy, I get the above error. Interestingly, I am able to change the name of an existing file (without trimming it) and it works. I'm wondering if anyone knows why this may be, if there is a way of fixing it, or if it's a known issue at all? I've read that converting a video to H.264 often solves the problem, but on this occasion, it hasn't. The work I do requires videos to be trimmed and turned over very quickly. The current workarounds (download, edit, re-upload/create a copy) do work for the time being, they're not a long-term solution. If anyone is able to shed some light on the situation, that would be much appreciated. Thank you!Solved277Views1like5CommentsI'm trying to permanently delete some shared folders, but it doesn't recognize me as the owner.
Hi everyone, Iâm running into a serious issue with Dropbox and would appreciate any insight. I have several folders and files that I originally created and shared in the past. Now, when I try to permanently delete them, Dropbox refuses â saying I need the ownerâs help, even though I am the sole owner of the entire account. Hereâs whatâs happening: When I go into the folder info via the web, I see only myself listed as having access, with "Can edit" permissions â but thereâs no "Owner" listed at all. These are folders I personally created and verified multiple times. Iâm trying to delete them permanently to free up hundreds of gigabytes of space. After selecting âPermanently delete,â Dropbox shows: âPermanently delete 1 item? This folder will be gone forever for everyone, including for anyone still using the folder. Permanently deleting this folder wonât free up space. Enter your password to continue.â And then I get the error: âCouldnât be permanently deleted â Ask the owner to help permanently delete this.â Again, Iâm the only person listed and thereâs no one else who could possibly be the âowner.â Also, under main folder settings, I get this message: âOnly the owner can change these settings. Settings apply to all folders in â[folder name]â.â Iâve tried: Restoring the folders and deleting again Clearing cache and cookies Deleting from the web and mobile apps Checking sharing settings Verifying account permissions Nothing has worked. At this point, I believe this is an issue with the way Dropbox flags old shared folders â even if theyâre no longer actively shared. Iâm asking if Dropbox can please purge these folders from my account entirely and help me recover the storage space. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help or has dealt with something similar.205Views0likes8CommentsLogged in and saw a 'Pending Deletion' message containing two of my files - will they get deleted?
Hello, I logged in to find a message entitled, "2025-06-13 Content Shared From T Team Pending Deletion" The message contained 2 items, both names of two of my Dropbox files. I checked and I'm only using 631GB of my 2TB plan. Are these two files actually going to be deleted? How can I keep that from happening? Thanks!Solved266Views0likes5CommentsOne of my team folders disappeared before my eyes with an error that it doesn't exist.
I am manager of a group that has been using Dropbox Basic for at least 7 years. I went to the site using my normal process this evening. "MplsWritersGuild Team Folder" popped up as usual, except then disappeared and a red boxed note appeared "MplsWritersGuild Team Folder does not exist." How can I get it back?79Views0likes2CommentsMissing database files and they're not in the deleted files page
Having a bad time with Dropbox this morning; I have raised a customer ticket directly with Dropbox, but wanted to check with the Community as well. My primary use case for Dropbox these days is to use it to host my Keepass database that I access from multiple devices, and my partner also does the same. The set up had been working quite fine for years. Things started to get hairy when the file streaming stuff (or whatever Dropbox calls it) launched. But it mostly worked. Till today. My wife first started seeing errors in her Dropbox client saying "Files marked as online only cannot be opened by some apps on your computer. A fix is on the way" or words to that effect. I checked my computer and sure enough I could not access those files as well. But here's where I started to panic - the crucual files and folder is missing even in the web console. There is no trace of it! Not even in the Deleted files tab. I have learned my lesson and will migrate out to a proper family-oriented password management system. But first I need to get my files. Any one has any clues what is going on?Solved232Views0likes6CommentsHow can I get my corrupted data back?
