After wasting time, as usual, with Dropbox's assistance, I try to ask here. My problem is relatively simple to explain and consists in the fact that if I use Windows Explorer, navigating in the Dropbox folder is torture since any operation it's very slow (creating a folder, copying a file, etc...) while if I use, for example (but it couldn't be the solution) a file explorer like Explorer++ everything works perfectly. Another thing I verified is that if I navigate to the Dropbox folder from a Windows window that opens for example when I want to open/save a file, everything works without problems. The problem remains confined to windows explorer. Can anybody help me? Thank you7.8KViews11likes12CommentsRetain folder structure when using Camera Uploads on mobile app
Backing up photos on mobile dumps them all into one 'Camera Uploads' folder. The expected behavior is that the photos uploaded will stay in their own folders. This should at the very least be a toggle option. Every other Dropbox Backup solution retains folders, so why are photos any different? You even select the folders to upload from when setting this up, so the functionality is a step away. Pretty jarring UX from an otherwise great service.134Views5likes3CommentsHow can I disable the status column on Windows?
Dear Madam/Sir, I have a paid subscription of Dropbox and as a professional writer I use mainly Explorer and Microsoft Office with hundreds of different files and documents. I am orientated to the name of my files and documents, and therefore I don't want to see any other information, as it is very distracting and useless (for me) as well. Therefore, I choose in Explorer and Office for 'List View'. Since the latest Dropbox-update, however, a "status column" drops up and I cannot get rid of it. Please make it possible to disable this column or tell me where in the registry of Windows 10 I can change this setting permanently. We often need to know what our Dropbox space is being used by. What if we could see it, visually and intuitively? I’m proposing a new Dropbox feature inspired by tools like SpaceMonger: a visual storage map that shows your entire Dropbox as a treemap of nested rectangles, each one sized in proportion to the space it consumes. Folders would be represented as boxes within boxes, giving you an immediate sense of which areas are taking up the most room. This bird’s-eye view would make it dramatically easier to identify storage hogs, clean up unneeded files, and make informed decisions about organizing or upgrading your storage. Integrated directly into the Dropbox web interface, it would be a natural, powerful addition for users who care about managing space efficiently, whether you're close to your storage limit or just trying to be informed and strategic on how you use it. Of course, the particulars of the UI/UX could be debated by your experts, but the gist is that an intuitive visual representation of our subscriptions' allocated space and how it is being used would be a tremendous addition to the platform. My boss really needs a super friendly user experience since he isn't that tech savvy. He'd really like it if the mobile app icon showed the "little red number" for unseen new file uploads. I don't see any option for notifications on new uploads... [edited by moderator to remove the second suggestion] Also, the web interface for posting this has reset twice right before I could post it, wiping my entire post. I had to type it up somewhere else and paste it here. No idea why that was happening...192Views4likes5CommentsFeedback about the file path change
I've read a couple threads on here, and I've seen the response about how "each team member will have a personal folder by default, which contains their own personal files/folders, as well as files that have been shared with them." The next time another idea or suggest comes through that involves changing a folder path - take it back to the drawing board. I could think of at least two other ways that 'personal folders' could have been implemented while maintaining the existing structure - and that was only in the past day since this fiasco started. The change has disrupted business. Let me give you some data points to include for future test cases to use. 1) Quick Access broke. Easy enough fix.. unpin and re-pin after successfully syncing up. 2) Excel links that were direct paths broke - literally have to go through each excel file and update links manually. I have a PowerShell script that does this.. but anyone without that script will have to manually update the links. 3) Out of 25 users, only 2 had a successful transition with the folder rename via their Dropbox Update. About 10 involved shutting down Dropbox because it was either stuck on database upgrade or starting. Had to restart the computer, and then allow Dropbox to run to get it to successfully transition. Also - when this happened, it didn't put it back where the folder was originally but ended up defaulting to the User's folder in Windows. The remaining workstations involved deleting Dropbox altogether and reinstalling manually. Any work that was done during the day was completely wiped. My client is furious and rightly so.Solved2.5KViews4likes4CommentsNotification icon for unseen new files
Taken from this post. (https://www.dropboxforum.com/idea/101002013/notifications-for-file-request-uploads-and-icon-on-unseen-new-files/826030) For some reason it's giving me an error if I try to put this as a link... My boss really needs a super friendly user experience since he isn't that tech savvy. I think it'd be very helpful if there was an option to show an icon on any unseen new files, and to have folders have a number icon showing how many of these unseen new files are inside. Kind of like unread emails/texts.127Views3likes2CommentsGet an option to prioritize syncing for folders on the desktop app.
Dropbox currently has an option to prioritize which files to sync first. I'd like to extend that to provide the same functionality for selected folders. This will be particularly helpful in migrating to new equipment but also when changing a large amount of content. Can do?163Views3likes4Comments
