I'm missing some old folders but cannot see them anywhere to restore them

I am missing some older subfolders from a shared folder. None of us deleted it. I do not see it under activity nor do they pop up when I do a search.  I am a basic subscriber; will DropBox help me with this? I am logged in online.  My app and online shows the same data so it not a syncing issue.

    What is http://www.dropbox.com/events show?

Note that it will only show if it was deleted within the last 6 months. Longer than that and they wont appear on that page.

Note that it is not possible for them to be removed and not on that page unless the owner deleted them and then also permanently deleted them. Also, Dropbox cannot, without being told to do so, remove files.

Support is only available via email to paid users. Everything else is via here.

Current items are general emails/messages from DropBox.  Only activity specific to me in there is from 2021. I don't access my DropBox regularly so I cannot pinpoint exactly when it went missing.  Would Dropbox "remove" something if my storage was full?  (currently I am at 50% usage).  Is there a setting that got activated which may not be showing me older files before a certain period?  I am perplexed as well.

    Yes they would: https://help.dropbox.com/storage-space/over-quota

They also mark accounts as inactive and delete files of that account if not accessed in 12 months: https://help.dropbox.com/account-access/email-about-inactive-account

They would only delete data you own, however, not anybody elses. Which could explain why only some in the share has gone.

The storage thing is the most likely scenario.  I easily go 6 to 8 months without going into it but never 12 months.  If they did remove it because of storage issues, is that lost to me completely?

Hey MMD1, just wanted to jump in here to let you know that indeed, if your files got deleted for being over quota, they would be unrecoverable.

But you would have received email notifications multiple times before it happened. Did you receive such emails?

    Yes they are completely unrecoverable.

The 12 month thing doesnt apply to over quota either. I believe notifications started going out in December for that with a deletion date of Jan.
