Device Desktop PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Pro Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 237.4.5655 My desktop app has been stuck syncing for about a week. We ran out of space on our work Dropbox network (80TB used). I freed up around 20TB of space and all PC's on the network apart from mine successfully (after some time) synced the changes. Mine however was stuck at 5.5 million files syncing. I left it to do its thing for several days with no change. So I followed the "advanced reinstall" instructions on this page https://help.dropbox.com/installs/advanced-reinstall. The reinstall was successful and it seemed as though things were moving again. However for the last few days I've been stuck with between 12,000 and 16,000 files syncing. The number gradually goes up day to day. I'm working on Dropbox still, as are my colleagues so this may be why. I have to manually download my colleagues files and place them where they should be syncing before using them. When I hover my mouse over the DB icon in the system tray it says its downloading the 16k files, uploading around 40 files. But very little download up upload bandwidth is actually being used. I have a gigabit connection so I don't believe its actually doing much at all on the network. How can I fix this? We have around 60TB of files on our DB network and I have around 500GB of that synced at any given time. Thanks for any assistance!212Views1like19CommentsI'm missing the Dropbox icon from my Windows explorer.

I use dropbox online for work. We have to create multiple folders a day for multiple clients. For years now, the easiest thing to do has been to click "Create Folder" and then use /'s to tack on the rest of the folders within. So for example Client Name/Current Policies/Address/Policy Name In doing so, the Policy Name folder would be created inside the Address folder, and so on with the Client Name folder being the main folder in the tree. This was working for me just yesterday. Today, when I try to create folders in that manner, I get this error: The following characters are not allowed: \ / I'm assuming this is some new implementation, though I cannot for the life of me figure out why they feel it would be necessary to do so. Creating each folder in the tree one by one is tedious and time-consuming and cannot possibly go over well with the plethora of businesses that do their work through dropbox and have to regularly create multiple client folders. Anyway, my question is, is there a workaround, or another way to create multiple folders that I'm missing? For reference, I cannot use the app version on my computer; I have to use the online version.Solved143Views1like9CommentsThe Dropbox folder icon appears as a blank page on my newly-installed Windows 11.
Application Affected Dropbox (Microsoft Store version) Device Windows 11 Custom Build PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Pro 24H2 and now 25H2 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 234.4.5591 Question or Issue On my new PC I have installed Dropbox via the Microsoft Store. It is all working, except the Dropbox icon itself is wrong in Explorer for my Dropbox folder. It is just showing a plain white piece of paper. Again this is a brand new system with a brand new install of Windows 11 Pro that I did myself - nothing weird, I didn't use any of the means to "debloat" - it is just a default Microsoft Windows 11 24H2 install. I had the problems on 24H2 and it upgraded to 25H2 the other day and that has not changed the issue. It is more of an annoyance than anything because my eyes are used to looking for the dropbox icon appearance to find it and the plain white paper doesn't stand out so much.Solved329Views0likes13CommentsHow to use my existing Dropbox folder without re-downloading the files after reinstalling Windows?
Hello I have two separate (physically separate) M2 drives, and one is (D drive) only for storing Dropbox folder. Whenever I reinstall Windows for whatever reaso,n I want to be able to use the existing folder and content without downloading it. I don't use Online Only, I use Dropbox as a RAID 1 backup (mirror). Recently, it doesn't even let me choose the existing Dropbox folder on my D drive during the first installation of the client; it says "Dropbox folder already exists, choose a different one." I don't want to download 125GB of data every time I reinstall Windows. Isn't there an easy/logical way to do it? I do not and will not use the online-only option. Thanks in advance.64Views0likes1CommentI only want to manually back up static folders to Dropbox, without the app syncing all the time.
Device: Macbook Air Operating System/Browser (if using the web): Sonoma 14.6.1 Syncing Status: paused indefinitely Question or Issue: I want to use Dropbox as a backup for folders, manually uploaded by me intermittently. I do not want it to be syncing with my computer. When I installed the app it began trying to sync with folders on the computer, which is not what I want. But when I tried to upload via the chrome browser it kept failing for large folders. (This is rather absurd. If the browser version can't handle it large folders then the app should be able to.) I just want to be able to back up (e.g.) my Documents folder or some subset of it, from time to time, with a date on it, as a static backup. I don't want to work from dropbox, I don't want it to be syncing constantly with my computer. How do I do this? I don't need "why are you doing this, why not just sync?" I don't want to. I don't trust such syncs. I don't want a problem with dropbox to possibly propagate downward into my local files. (You can say this is unlikely -- I don't care, I want it impossible.) Thanks.30Views0likes1CommentExport folder of scattered files on Android to access from a third party app
Hello, I'm on Android, trying to access files from a third party app. I can't seem to find the files on the local device even when I have them marked as offline accessible. I see there's a way to export an individual file, but the large number of files I'm trying to have access to are spread through a bunch of folders and I need to keep the folder structure intact, so it's not feasible to manually download each file. Is there a way to get my Dropbox files into a folder that I can access with a third party app somehow? This seems like a pretty basic use case so I'm frustrated I can't seem to find a way to do it.67Views0likes6Comments
