Since 3 days the synchronizing process keeps hanging at around 68gb. It keeps hovering back and forth as i see the data size + time, grow big and small between 1gb. I tried to close, reopen dropbox, reboot. I hope anyone has some tips for me to get out of this loop? On a side note, i've just received this laptop and freshly installed DB, I've been revealing the DB structure (3,8tb in total) in 'online-only' modus, except for some folders worth of 240gb in 'offline available'. Device Macbook Pro 2025 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) macOS 13.7.8 and macOS 26.2 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Syncing Status Up to date Question or Issue I currently have about 450 GB of files sync'ed in my Dropbox folder on my Macbook Pro. I have purchased a new Macbook Pro and want to know what is the easiest way to migrate my Dropbox folder to the new laptop. I have seen instructions from 3 years ago that say that I can copy them to the new laptop (via external hard drive for example or perhaps macOS's Migration Assistant) and then let it reindex. I want to know if this is still the best method. I really want to avoid having to re-download AND re-index 450GB of data.37Views0likes2CommentsSelective Sync mess after migration to new Mac
Device MacBook Air Operating System/Browser (if using the web) MacOS 15.7 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) The dropbox app does not work on the new computer Syncing Status "Syncing 43 files" Question or Issue I am having the same issue that many other users seem to have after migrating to a new Mac. Many of my dropbox folders have Selective Sync conflicts. This includes my Downloads folder, which means I cannot see or access any new or existing downloads. Which, in turn, means I cannot download a new Dropbox app for MacOS 15.7. Previous threads on this topic seem to boil down to "you shoudn't have used Mac Migration Assistant, and now you have to sort through your whole dropbox manually." Is there any better advice? Any why in the world is there no warning about this? Surely it happens every day!31Views0likes2CommentsI only want to manually back up static folders to Dropbox, without the app syncing all the time.
Device: Macbook Air Operating System/Browser (if using the web): Sonoma 14.6.1 Syncing Status: paused indefinitely Question or Issue: I want to use Dropbox as a backup for folders, manually uploaded by me intermittently. I do not want it to be syncing with my computer. When I installed the app it began trying to sync with folders on the computer, which is not what I want. But when I tried to upload via the chrome browser it kept failing for large folders. (This is rather absurd. If the browser version can't handle it large folders then the app should be able to.) I just want to be able to back up (e.g.) my Documents folder or some subset of it, from time to time, with a date on it, as a static backup. I don't want to work from dropbox, I don't want it to be syncing constantly with my computer. How do I do this? I don't need "why are you doing this, why not just sync?" I don't want to. I don't trust such syncs. I don't want a problem with dropbox to possibly propagate downward into my local files. (You can say this is unlikely -- I don't care, I want it impossible.) Thanks.30Views0likes1CommentSyncing is suddenly very slow/stopped after the last desktop app update
Device M4 MacBook Pro Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Sequoia 15.7.1 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 233.4.4938 Syncing Status Synching... (does not say how many files) Question or Issue As of the last update to the dropbox app (Sept 27) synching is hanging and/or extremely slow. The files that need to be synched are small and should synch very fast. They come essentially instantaneously when I download them from the web interface--but synching within the Dropbox app is slow/stuck. Here's an example of what I see in Finder--the partial download circle remains stuck in that position indefinitely. This makes Dropbox essentially unusable. Restarting Dropbox (and then later the entire computer) did not fix this. According to GoogleSpeedtest I have a network speed of 474.5 Mbps download 562.7 Mbps upload, so it's not the internet connection. This is very clearly a Dropbox-only problem and it is very frustrating.Solved413Views2likes20CommentsThe desktop app always shows as syncing on Mac OS
I have strange syncing behaviour on my MacBook M3 running Tahoe V26.1 Dropbox build 237.4.5655 In general, syncing seems to be working, but syncing never stops. If I change 2 files and monitor the sync activity, it shows 2 files being synced, then one named file, then just “syncing”, which never goes away. If I pause syncing, then restart, it shows “Syncing 1 file”, but no name, for about 20 seconds, before returning to the simple “Syncing” message. The icon in the menu bar always shows the syncing wheel. Any help much appreciated!Solved75Views0likes8CommentsHow can I create local copies of my files on the Mac Dropbox app?

Device (Mac mini m4 / iMac m1 etc.) Syncing Status Up to date Question or Issue Hi all, my team and I are using dropbox via the integrated app system in the Mac finder. We have been using this for years with little to no issues, until last week we started having an issue where team members would upload or edit files, and these would not be visible to anyone else but themselves. I have found that manually clicking on the dropbox icon (in the top right) to check for sync errors, resulted in it saying that all sends were up-to-date, but if you clicked pause for 30 mins, and then immediately resumed, it would then sync said files. In some cases also, the files would sync after 24 hours on their own. Has anyone got any ideas as to why this might be happening, and if so how to make sure all dropbox remain synced please, I would be extremely grateful. Regards Sam50Views0likes4Comments
