The spreadsheet is fully workable on my mobile, excepting when I press the cell containing the embedded (not linked) word document., it only identifies the cell (eg B2) rather than open the embedded fileit says "This version of Excel doesn't support interacting with embedded files" When I open the offline folder it works perfectly on my laptop Also, sometimes when I open the file on my mobile, it comes up with "open with" and when I press that, it goes straight into the spreadsheet. The screen shot shows an unfilled circle, whereas the others are all filled? I cannot find in Dropbox application, where I can upload a newer version of Excel? Hope you can help, please Kind regards Doug20Views0likes1CommentDropbox app crashes and won't work with the Microsoft Word app on Android
Dropbox files will not open, except occasionally, in word on my s25ultra phone. Got a message from phone. "dropbox app keeps crashing. put to sleep to avoid excess battery use.' I need to use the dropbox app. When the docment in dropbox does occasionally open in word after an eternity, then it will not close and you have to clear all active apps to get it too close. Word works perfectly with my one drive files.165Views0likes19Comments"Word is running into problems" error when trying to open Office files

Integration Affected Microsoft Office Device Surface Laptop 5 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Question or Issue One of our employees is experiencing an issue with opening files saved in Dropbox intermittently. Others are able to open the files and the user can usually open the file after a few minutes have passed. This happens both when a file was just modified by another user and when a file has not been modified in days and no one else has the file open. It also occurs if a file is saved with "Autosave" toggled on or toggled off. The user can open the file via the File Explorer context menu to open the file in Dropbox.com and then in PowerPoint/Excel/Word. Is there a way to fix this as the work around takes time and interferes with the employee's workflow.84Views0likes3CommentsSet Dropbox as the default saving place for Word
Hello! I've recently moved from Microsoft to Dropbox as my cloud storage and I've noticed that my files are not autosaving anymore and even though I deleted my one drive app I still can't make dropbox my default saving place and whenever I tried to do it it doesn't change the settings it's like it doesn't take them because for the next file I try to save it goes back to OneDrive. Thank you everybody!181Views0likes4CommentsWhen 2 people edit a Word document at the same time in Dropbox, I get a permission message.
I work with one other person. We were both working on our laptops on the same file in our shared Dropbox folder. (I was adding to a working list and she was editing above.) But I kept getting an odd request for permission and the file name changed to a long sequence of numbers and letters and was saved in another folder called "old files." So the attempt to work on the same file at the same time failed. How can we make this work?Solved13KViews0likes7CommentsExcel crashes when opening a file from Dropbox but not from Desktop.
Hello. This just started occurring yesterday for one of my machines. I have files stored on Dropbox sync'd through filer explorer. When I open the file from dropbox (file explorer), excel quits responding. When I open the same file from my Desktop, Excel works as normal. Dropbox is listed as a connected service in Excel and there have been no issues before yesterday. I have updated office and performed a repair without luck. Any thoughts?1.7KViews1like17CommentsThe dreaded error 'Can't save here choose another location' for MS office files.
Hello--I have a chronic problem with my file folders: frequently get 'Can't save here choose another location'. I use my employer's MS Office 365 account, and sync Dropbox to Windows Explorer, and use Explorer for my file management. The 'Can't save' message seems to appear when I am using many subfolders...if I go back one folder I can save the file. The problem is, this doesn't work with my folder organizing system. Is there a limit to how many subfoldes can be used? If so, can I release that limit? Or is the problem something else? Thanks you!5.4KViews0likes1CommentMicrosoft files on Windows 11 are prompting for a Dropbox sign up every time I try to open them.
Hello, I have the Dropbox desktop app installed and every time I open Excel or Word this Login screen appears asking to "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office 365" Is there a way to disable this? Integration Affected Microsoft 365 (specifically Excel) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Question or Issue One of our users started getting errors yesterday when trying to open Excel documents that are stored within the Dropbox folder. The file opens, but brings up the following error: The file has not been moved, nobody else has this problem currently. It only happens when the file is within the dropbox folder on her computer. If we copy the file to a location outside of dropbox, it's fine. Searching the internet, it seems people who use Box (which I'm assuming is similar to Dropbox), are starting to have the same problem. It was reported in their community beginning on Nov 25, 2025 and more and more people are replying to it complaining of the same issue. A few different "fixes" were suggested by their IT which did not fix the problem and yesterday they say they have determined that it's a bug related to the latest Seamless Login release from Microsoft. Just throwing this out there in case it helps the issue to be resolved with Dropbox quicker. So far, only one of our team members is having this issue. Please help.Solved592Views1like17Comments
