(Phone, laptop) Question or Issue I made a dumb error. I decided to try a 2 step authentication app and use it for better security. I lost all access to my dropbox because I had no clue what it was doing I guess. I am using a new basic account just to get on here and try to get help with my other account. I am scared I LOST EVERYTHING. that account is locked out on desktop and my phone app. I made the account last year and never got any kind of emergency code in case of lock out. I did send a message to drop box but based on what I have read here I see some people get help and some don't. Can someone here please give me some advice. also if I Never can get in again how do I ensure that everything gets deleted so no one else will be able to access it?34Views1like4CommentsCan I log in to my account without my authenticator app or backup codes?
Question or Issue I have 2 dropbox accounts. For my second drop box account (where I have a plus plan), I am not able to log in as I am in a loop of verifications that I am unable to do. I do not have the authenticator app, and I don't have my backup codes. Is there no other way to log in? When I contact support they tell me to do a bunch of things that don't exist when you aren't able to log in. Are my files lost? To make matters worse, I pay for drop box and I can't get into my account. There has to be a way to help people who lost their backup codes and whose phone number doesn't seem to be in their profile. I tried to log in on desktop app, phone app etc., but doesn't work as I'm stuck in this loop! Help! Betina36Views0likes2CommentsHow can I protect my Dropbox files, when my laptop needs service?
Dropbox Plan Basic Are you a Team Member or Admin? No Do you have access to the email linked to the account? Yes Are there any devices connected to your Dropbox account? Yes Question or Issue For the first time since I bought my first PC in 1985 or so, I'm having to leave my computer with a tech support company, briefly, and I want to make sure that they can't access any of my files. I plan to move my files to an external drive and remove them from my laptop - but what do I do about my Dropbox files? I currently auto-sync files between my laptop and dropbox's "cloud" - how do I make sure that the tech can't see any of the data in any of my Dropbox files?24Views0likes1CommentTell Us How You Use Dropbox

Dropbox Plan Plus Are you a Team Member or Admin? No Do you have access to the email linked to the account? Yes Are there any devices connected to your Dropbox account? Yes Question or Issue 1) Can you see whether a linked device has viewed a file? 2) Does file activity show whether a file has been downloaded? Context: After I separated from my ex-husband, I changed my Dropbox password and checked that folders were not shared with him. I did not realize that two of his devices were still linked, and that Dropbox (unlike every other app I have ever used) would not require devices to sign in with the new password. He recently sent me texts showing that he had access to my files and had viewed some highly personal information and photos. I found the security tab that confirmed two devices were linked and he had accessed my Dropbox. I immediately deleted those devices from my account. However, now I am trying to confirm if he viewed or downloaded anything. Because the devices were linked, Dropbox sees them as "me" so doesn't show another person viewing them. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Feeling pretty vulnerable right now.41Views0likes3CommentsAutomatic logout
I think it would be great and very secure if dropbox logged out automatically after a period of time - decided by the owner of the account (for example after 1, 2 or x minutes) - when no actions have been made on it. This would prevent other user from using the account if the owner unadvertedly got away from the pc and left his account open. urrently, the Signature Audit data available through the API includes file names associated with signed documents. While this provides basic traceability, it can be difficult for users to easily identify which form each file name corresponds toâespecially when multiple forms share similar naming conventions or when file names are system-generated. To improve usability and transparency, it would be beneficial for the API response to include the form names alongside or in place of the file names. Proposed Enhancement: Update the Signature Audit API response to include the form name for each document or file entry. Maintain the existing file name field for backward compatibility, but add a new attribute such as formName or form_display_name. Ensure the form name corresponds to the display name as configured in the form settings within the system.84Views0likes2CommentsGoogle Sign-In and email aliases
I would like to report a usability issue related to Google Sign-In and email aliases, and propose an enhancement. I have: One Google account with multiple email aliases. One long-standing Dropbox account created with one of these aliases (letâs call it alias@domain.com), with its own Dropbox password. The same underlying Google account also has a âmainâ address (main@domain.com). What happens today: My Dropbox account email is set to alias@domain.com. If I try to log into Dropbox using âContinue with Googleâ and select my main@domain.com identity, Dropbox creates a completely new, empty Dropbox account for main@domain.com instead of linking the Google login to my existing Dropbox account. This behavior is consistent with the current requirement that the Google email must exactly match the Dropbox account email to use Google Sign-In. [help.dropbox](https://help.dropbox.com/account-access/google-sign-in) What I would like to achieve: Keep a single Dropbox account. Be able to: - log into that one Dropbox account with email + password (using alias@domain.com), and - also log in with Google Sign-In using the same underlying Google account (main@domain.com), without creating a separate Dropbox account. Feature request: If technically and security-wise feasible, Iâd like to request: 1. A way to explicitly **link an existing Dropbox account** to a Google account for Sign-In, even if the Google address and the Dropbox email differ (for example main@domain.com â alias@domain.com), possibly via a confirmation flow on both sides. [help.dropbox](https://help.dropbox.com/account-access/google-sign-in) Clearer safeguards to **prevent accidental creation of a new Dropbox account** when a user mistakenly uses Google Sign-In with an email that already corresponds (directly or via alias) to an existing Dropbox user. An advanced âlogin methodsâ section in account settings where a user can: - see which Google account is linked, - link/unlink a Google account, - continue to use email + password in parallel. This would greatly improve the experience for users with Google aliases or complex identity setups, and reduce accidental account duplication. Thank you for considering this request.52Views0likes1Comment
