Device HP Desktop Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Syncing Status Up To Date Question or Issue I've not been able to find documents using search in my dropbox folder for a few weeks. I went to indexing options to remove dropbox from indexing and re-add it hoping it would rebuild the index. IT'S NOT THERE TO SELECT AT ALL!! I have my dropbox as a fold in Documents. When I go to C Users Myname Documents, dropbox is not there. I've right clicked the folder and in properties, went to advanced, UNCHECKED allow this folder to have contents indexed and applied that. Then I went back and checked it so they could be indexed and applied that. Dropbox is still not in the indexing options list of folders.27Views0likes2CommentsThe Dropbox folder icon appears as a blank page on my newly-installed Windows 11.
Application Affected Dropbox (Microsoft Store version) Device Windows 11 Custom Build PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Pro 24H2 and now 25H2 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 234.4.5591 Question or Issue On my new PC I have installed Dropbox via the Microsoft Store. It is all working, except the Dropbox icon itself is wrong in Explorer for my Dropbox folder. It is just showing a plain white piece of paper. Again this is a brand new system with a brand new install of Windows 11 Pro that I did myself - nothing weird, I didn't use any of the means to "debloat" - it is just a default Microsoft Windows 11 24H2 install. I had the problems on 24H2 and it upgraded to 25H2 the other day and that has not changed the issue. It is more of an annoyance than anything because my eyes are used to looking for the dropbox icon appearance to find it and the plain white paper doesn't stand out so much.Solved322Views0likes13CommentsHow to use my existing Dropbox folder without re-downloading the files after reinstalling Windows?
Hello I have two separate (physically separate) M2 drives, and one is (D drive) only for storing Dropbox folder. Whenever I reinstall Windows for whatever reaso,n I want to be able to use the existing folder and content without downloading it. I don't use Online Only, I use Dropbox as a RAID 1 backup (mirror). Recently, it doesn't even let me choose the existing Dropbox folder on my D drive during the first installation of the client; it says "Dropbox folder already exists, choose a different one." I don't want to download 125GB of data every time I reinstall Windows. Isn't there an easy/logical way to do it? I do not and will not use the online-only option. Thanks in advance.54Views0likes1CommentDropbox desktop app on my Windows is stuck. "Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment".

Application Affected (Dropbox) Device (Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Convertible Laptop.) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 11.) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Error Unable to de-install Dropbox. Ensured that 3 Dropbox services have stopped. Tried to de-DropboxE64.88.0.dllinstall manually. Didn't work. In safe mode, deleted all Dropbox files except DropboxE64.88.0.dll. Error=action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer. Ran sfc/scannow. No errors. Ran Revo installer. Lots of messages about deleting registry. But DropboxE64.88.0.dll still there & gave same error when I tried to delete. It seems like DropboxE64.88.0.dll likes my PC so much that it doesn't want to leave!!!38Views0likes2Comments"This file has been moved" error when trying to open Excel files in the Dropbox folder
Integration Affected Microsoft 365 (specifically Excel) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Question or Issue One of our users started getting errors yesterday when trying to open Excel documents that are stored within the Dropbox folder. The file opens, but brings up the following error: The file has not been moved, nobody else has this problem currently. It only happens when the file is within the dropbox folder on her computer. If we copy the file to a location outside of dropbox, it's fine. Searching the internet, it seems people who use Box (which I'm assuming is similar to Dropbox), are starting to have the same problem. It was reported in their community beginning on Nov 25, 2025 and more and more people are replying to it complaining of the same issue. A few different "fixes" were suggested by their IT which did not fix the problem and yesterday they say they have determined that it's a bug related to the latest Seamless Login release from Microsoft. Just throwing this out there in case it helps the issue to be resolved with Dropbox quicker. So far, only one of our team members is having this issue. Please help.355Views1like15CommentsSyncing issue after Windows profile change
Application Affected Drobox Sync Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Pro Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Latest - downloaded yesterday Question or Issue Migrated a profile on a Windows computer to a new user yesterday using ProfileWiz. New user but the profile including the path to the profile and all the permissions are the same. Done this lots without issue - its our goto solution for user profile migration Dropbox sync would not start with a permissions error. Read up on the web and found a response saying I'd need to do an advanced re-install. Did the uninstall but that seemed to nail it and all the advanced bits were already done, so i just installed the latest version of Dropbox syncs and all seemed good (file selection the same, destination folder the same) Now (>12hrs later) there are two Dropbox icons in file explorer both seemingly identical; both according to their properties point to the same place. Looking in c:\users\username\ there is only one Dropbox folder and one version of all files in it It appears to be syncing everything again and appears to be consuming hard drive space - yet no duplicates seem to be created. Any thoughts as to what's happening and why - will it be OK if I just leave it?75Views0likes5CommentsDownload folder unaccessible after installing Dropbox
Device ASUS ROG Strix G712LV-BS71-CB laptop Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Dropbox App Version/Browser Version 237.4.5655 Question or Issue I'm supporting a user that I installed Dropbox for and since I in stalled it the user can't access it's download folder. This is the message (pardon the French) that appears: Which basically says that the folder is not available. All downloads from the browser fails unless I redirect the default download location to somewhere else, like the desktop. When inspecting the properties of the folder, the link for the folder location is blank. It's been a reccuring problem for him and I can't find anyone online experiencing the same issue. I tried replicating it on my computer but can't seem to be able to. It's been happening for a couple of weeks now and the workaround I found was to restart the computer so because Dropbox didn't launch at startup, the download folder was available. Upon opening the Dropbox app, the download folder is not acessible until a restart. That was for the last couple of weeks, but now even a restart doesn't temporarily solve the issue. Steps taken: - Restarting the PC. - Reinstalling Dropbox - Making sure there is no backup settings targetting the user's document folder. - Changing Dropbox's location on the computer by putting it directly on a Folder in the C:\ drive, not in the user's document folder. I'm at a loss here. Does anyone know where the issue might come from?42Views0likes1Comment
