I have an update for this same error/issue related to opening files in Dropbox when getting a new device. All of my Dropbox files transferred to my new Android phone just fine. I could open Excel and Word files just fine - except for ONE file that was password protected. After hours of trying everything I could think of, including 'Open With', reinstalling Dropbox & Excel, I finally opened MS Excel app Settings page and added Dropbox as under "Connected Services".  This solved the issue!!

Thanks, just checked and dropbox is already in my connected services.

    And DonGlover, if you remove Dropbox from your connected services and then re-connect it? Does that help?
