Can't see online only folders on the desktop PC, after reinstalling the app.

One morning I woke up to a "disk full" error on my pc. For whatever reason, Dropbox had decided to download my entire Dropbox to my pc. I stopped the syncing and uninstalled Dropbox app. Restarted and re-installed the Dropbox app and selected only a few folders to store on my hard drive. Completed the setup, but now I only see the folders that I selected on my desktop app. Before Dropbox decided on it's own to download the entire folder, I was able to see online only folders (everything). Why now can I not Did I do it wrong during set up?

Dropbox Business, Dell P5750, Windows 11 pro, Dropbox app version: 231.4.5770

  • Hey texasprop I'd be happy to look into this with you!

My initial thought here is that maybe you're using selective sync and that's why the folders aren't visible inside your Dropbox folder.

Can you check your selective sync settings, and let me know what you see there?

While you're at it would you mind checking the app's current syncing status? You should be able to see this by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon in your taskbar, next to your WiFi.

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there.

Hi texasprop  and welcome to the Dropbox Community! I’m really happy to hear that everything’s showing up as it should again It’s always great when a reinstall does the trick, and your marked solution from Megan can really help others in a similar spot ✨.

By the way, I’m Theresa 👩‍💻, one of the Community Managers here at Dropbox. Since you’ve been working with online-only folders, I’d love to know... do you have a favourite Dropbox feature that helps you keep things running smoothly on your desktop?

    Looking forward to hearing more,
