downloaded video is choppy and laggy
After downloading the video is choppy and laggy.
I tried it on my android phone, my laptop (browser: chrome , firefox) , and via the Laptop app.
I tried viewing the clip in my phone , with vlc and the standard windows 10 media player. Since its a mov file i tried converting it to mp4 first which didnt work as well. if i open the dropbox link where the clips are uploaded they are not choppy. I dont know what to try anymore. Any ideas what is going on?
I have a solution! Basically go to files right click on your keypad then u should see a tab of options. Click the one that says “open with” click the option that says photos as it takes you there save the video on files you can also trim it so it’s easier and the once you save it, it lets you change the format for example if the file is in mp4 it lets you change the file to any supported file. So that you are able to see the download video. This happens because the video may not be supported in what ever app or program you’re trying to use to open it. Or In some cases, a choppy or laggy video could be caused by an error that occurred during the download process. For example, part of your MP4 movie or 4K film file might not have been downloaded correctly or could be corrupt. Re-downloading the videos might be a simple way to fix choppy videos on your device.

Hello-
I am also experiencing this. I recently received a shared link to access my wedding videos. I downloaded them on my Mac laptop and moved them to a flash drive. When I played them on my Mac it was very slow and choppy with the sound being at normal speed. I also tried to download directly from the link on two other laptops and it said “it uses unsupported encodings” when attempting to play.
Best,
Ashley

Sorry to hear this happened, Ashley Remon . Can you clarify the file extension of the video files in question? What about their size?
If you haven’t tried this yet, can you also open an incognito window on your computer and download one of the videos from there? Do you experience the same issue?

HiNancy
The extension is .MP4
There are multiple videos that vary in size but the majority are under 1GB. I just attempted in the incognito window for a 128.27 MB video and it did the same thing. It was just choppy and lagging.

Hi Ashley Remon, could you try using a different browser to preview the video on the site?
Regarding downloading the video, could you also try using a different video player in order to see if this is a codec issue on the video?

Hi there,
The video plays fine on the webpage. The error occurs after downloading and when attempting to play the video. I have used 3 different types of media players. One plays it but choppy and the other two cannot play at all.
The videographer informed me that the videos are in 4K and sometimes it just depends on the device. - Jay12 months ago

That is true, 4K videos do require a powerful CPU to play it normally at full quality, so it does sound like the issue isn't related to Dropbox in this instance.
Do you require any further assistance?

No, thank you.
