Dropbox keeps trying to download and sync files set to online only
I had this same issue with a particular folder when I first set up my new Windows 10 laptop, but closing and restarting Dropbox seemed to fix it. (Derp.) Today it randomly started trying to downl...

3 years agoHey cmag1sp, sorry to see you're having this issue.
There are some processes on your computer that could be looking at and downloading these files without you manually opening them.
This could be some kind of backup service you might have, an antivirus, recently used file lists or third party apps that monitor files in general.
Could this be the case here? And can you temporarily disable these features (if any), to see if you get a different behavior?

I wouldn't know where to begin to look into your points. At a consumer level the program should work as expected without the need for high level intervention to sort out bugs. This appears to be quite a common issue.
