It works, thank you! I just deleted the host file and it started working.
- Press Windows Key + R.
- Type %WinDir%\System32\Drivers\Etc into the Run window and click OK.
- Delete hosts file .

6 years agoI'd recommend looking in every app on your machine, to see if there is any antivirus software that you had previously uninstalled, to ensure it was fully removed, including all their extra services.
There are certain apps which can cause this issue, so it has to be something on the machine which is preventing your connection.
Do you have the app preferences set to 'no proxy' or 'auto-detect'? Try switching them around if need be.

Thanks for joining the topic ken l.19 and denisebrown!
Just to confirm, did you try these steps, and the issue persisted ken l.19?
Since you mentioned using a Mac device instead denisebrown, you could try researching the HOSTS file on a Mac.
While this isn't an official solution recommended by Dropbox, as it seemed to help other users in this thread, it might help in your situation.- ken l.195 years agoHelpful | Level 6
I deleted the host in the registry and it makes no difference.
Still doesn't work
thank you

I can only recommend checking the posts in this very thread, since something is definitely preventing access to the Dropbox servers from your machine.
Whether this is a VPN, proxy setting in the app, ISP or router issues, we can't say, as it's specific to your device.
Does this issue occur on a different network, or on another computer on the same network?

Can you access the site from a mobile device on the same network? Do other computers on the network have the same issue?
As it doesn't sounds like this is related to Dropbox, there isn't much else I can suggest.
However, the 'err_connection_refused' has quite a few resources after searching on the web on how to resolve it, namely to do with system and browser settings which are outside what we would normally recommend.
Since the Dropbox site is up and running, there is something on your machine causing this behavior, which those steps might help resolve, though I would remark to be cautious when trying them out, since these are non-Dropbox steps.- denisebrown5 years agoHelpful | Level 5
Hi
I am using chrome and still get the error this morning. I wonder if it has something to do with the latest windows update?
