Files don't open if Dropbox is not running on my computer

Hi all,   My files are like hostages held by Dropbox and I cannot open them unless I use Dropbox. I wanted to stop using Dropbox a while back and after uninstalling Dropbox I noticed that files...

Hi Barrry, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

 

From your description, it does sound like the files were not available offline, but were online-only instead. 

 

Could you attach a screenshot showing the Dropbox folder as it appears in Explorer/Finder?

 

Also, could you provide the ticket ID from when you contacted the support team?

 

This will help me to assist further!

      Could you double click the folder and attach the screenshot so we can see if there are any sync icons on the files?
