Files online but not in Windows explorer
I have seen that this was an issue in the past, but the solutions are now out of date, so I am hoping someone can help me with this.
Sometimes files that I know are in Dropbox, and that appear in D...

Hmm, what is the status of your Dropbox application? You can see that by hovering your mouse over the Dropbox icon in your system tray.
And do you mean that you and your boss are both accessing the same Dropbox account from different computers?
Does this document appear when your boss accesses the account online?

Hi Hannah
We are accessing the same Dropbox family room account from different computers, yes. On his computer he can search File Explorer and see everything he needs to; his searches also work for content within PDFs, whereas my searches only work for titles. This is another problem we need to address. But my searches in File Explorer do not always show the file I need (the original reason for this thread!)
Currently the status of my Dropbox is syncing/downloading. Thank you!

And now the status of my Dropbox is "up to date". Thanks Hannah

Have you refreshed your file explorer, by restarting your computer at all?
Also, if you quit/close the Dropbox app, does anything change regarding the file search? - jessifishman4 years agoExplorer | Level 4
I have tried restarting both the computer and the Dropbox app, and there are still files that will not show up in the search in File Explorer. Thanks.

Hey jessifishman, sorry to jump in here, but have you tried resetting or rebuilding your computer's search index? - jessifishman4 years agoExplorer | Level 4
Hi Walter , thanks for jumping in. I believe I have tried to do this before, but I am not sure that it accomplished anything. Do you have instructions or tips for doing it in such a way that it would make all files searchable (by title and content) in Windows Explorer for Windows 10? I might be upgrading to Windows 11 soon, however.
