I'm not able to share a link with 'can edit' permissions

Why doesn't the following from dropbox help actually work?  View is only option...there is no way to select can edit.  Why put out false information in help???   Create and share a Dropbox link w...

Hi kurtbaud 

 

On that screen you have created a shared link - that is designed as read only link (i.e. its one way). 

 

To share it as a folder you need to follow a different process. https://help.dropbox.com/share/share-with-others - dont use a link!

    When I follow those directions:

    2. Hover over the file or folder you’d like to share and click the share icon (rectangle with an up arrow).

    ... the pop-up dialog says:

    This folder can only be shared as a link.

    ... so can you supply some different directions?

      Is it possible to send us one more screenshot of the message that you mention (the one stating that this folder can only be shared as a link)?

        I don't have the desktop app installed on this computer, so I cannot show that right now.

        In browser:

         

        ... and if I clink on Link settings, I get:

        ... so it looks as if the advertisement that we can do Can Edit with Basic is untrue.
