4 years agoHey guys! Happy Wednesday, I hope you're all doing well.
Have you tried the troubleshooting steps mentioned throughout this thread? If I were you, the two necessary steps I would take would be to reboot the device, and uninstall/re-install the app.
One more thing I want you to check is if you can use the 'Save to files' option, and then choose the Dropbox folder from there.
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there.

Hi Quentinnuk, welcome to our Community!
What is the OS and version of the app that you have installed on your end?
Can you also send me a screenshot of the error you see on your end, please?
Let me know!

iOS 15.5 (19F77)
dropbox app 280.2.2
screenshot of issue below. I should add that if I enable dropbox in Files I can save to Dropbox through save to Files. The issue appears only when save to Dropbox or share to Dropbox is used.

Hey Quentinnuk, sorry for the late response. Are you still having issues with this?
If so, please let us know and we'll reach out via email to investigate further.
- Jules84 years agoHelpful | Level 5I have this same problem and have off and on for a couple years. Super frustrating. Works and then doesn’t… and then mysteriously does again. Hasn’t been working for me currently for at least a month. I am on iOS 15.5. Would love to hear if there is a fix in the works!

This has been happening to me for years. Why hasn’t it been fixed?

The Dropbox item is grayed out.
- Alex2963 years agoExplorer | Level 4I‘ve been having the same problem for months. Has somebody found a solution?

Hi Walter, sorry to bump in again… This thread exists for more than a year now. October last year, I reported this same problem. In the mean time, several other people also complained about this. I see several advices to reinstall Dropbox again, etc, but I did not see anyone for which it has been solved. I also do not read admitting to us that this is unfortunately a bug of the Dropbox-app. From my 30-years experience as a Software Engineer and as a (paying) user of Dropbox, I am almost 100% sure that this is a bug in the Dropbox app.
As mentioned earlier, for some websites, it does perfectly work: the PDF is saved to a selectable Dropbox-folder. But for other sites, this does NOT work and the error message is shown. These are always the same websites for which it does not work, no problem reproducing it, but I can not give you my credentials to see it for yourself. It may have something to do with the way the website creates the PDF. Maybe the MIME-type is different. I have added a screenshot below. As also mentioned, the pCloud-app (also a storage provider) is always able to save these files, so it can not be caused by an iOS-bug. They DO know how to save a PDF-file from different sources.
Please be clear to us that this is a bug, that you are working on it and admit that you are having problems reproducing it. For the last 14 months, we keep running around in circles. Thanks!
- Quentinnuk3 years agoExplorer | Level 4Just to add to this, I still have the problem but have worked around by enabling Dropbox in the iOS files app and can save things to Dropbox through files that cause an error with Dropbox app.

Thanks for your additional information, Quentinnuk. I am familiar with the work-around, but it is still an extra action to just save a PDF-file. I hope the actual problem is fixed, so that a work-around is not required anymore.

Hi all, thanks for your reports so far and all the additional information you've provided.
For anyone who's still affected by this, would it be OK if we reached out via email to have a further look internally at this point?
