iOS photos tab including non image files
The iOS app is identifying files that aren't images as images and cluttering up that tab in the app. You won't let us exclude folders from image aggregation but could we at least set which file extensions are included? Files are .avp and .avb which are Avid Media Composer project files and not images.
Hi Everybody,
This issue has been resolved by our engineering team. If anyone is still experiencing a similar issue, let us know here and I will make sure we investigate. Thanks!
Regards,
Ben

Hey littlealex, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
The file types that are included in your photos tab can be found in this article.
So, since .avp and .avb files should not be included, can you tap on "account", then on the gear icon and then on "clear cache", to see if that helps?
Keep me posted.
- littlealex3 years agoExplorer | Level 3Tried that but no change. Still multiple avb and avp files in the Photos tab. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app but still the same.

Hi littlealex, sorry to jump in here!
Would it be possible for you to send me a few screenshots of what you see on your end, please?

How do I do that? You'll appreciate I don't want to post the contents of my photos here.

Hi littlealex, you can attach images using the camera icon, or by copying and pasting them here.
Make sure to blur out any identifying information or images, leaving just non-private filenames.
- littlealex3 years agoExplorer | Level 3That seems like a lot of effort for not much useful information. I'll describe it instead.
In the Photos tab in the iOS app (latest update literally just installed, latest non beta iOS version, iPhone 13 Pro Max) there is a grid of 49 items for July. The oldest 4 items are 4 photos backed up from my phone. The other 45 items are all black squares. If I click on one it will be either an .avb or an .avp file from an Avid Media Composer project that runs inside my Dropbox folder. Dropbox starts to open the file (telling me what it is) and then brings up a message saying it can't.
I think this is new behaviour. Like in the last week or two. Is it possible .avb and .avp have been added to the list of image file extensions? - littlealex3 years agoExplorer | Level 3To add, there are avb and avp files scattered throughout my photos tab now and go back years. They were definitely not there until very recently so must be newly added to the range of filetypes thought to be images by the app.
