Many thumbnails disappear as soon as I select a picture.
Apparently the last upgrade has caused havoc with picture thumbnails. The file folders have a new look but the problem is when I open a folder it takes a very long time to load the thumbnails for the...

2 years agoHi kenternst, if you connect to a different network or use your cellular data, do you notice the same behavior?

Yes. BTW we travel full-time in a motorhome and use Starlink at 40 to 120 MBPS. The problem began on your last up grade. I've been a customer for several years. There is no problem at my end, unless there are new settings or application changes I need to be aware of. I can't be the only one having problems on multiple devices on Android equipment.

Hi kenternst, we've not seen similar reports like this. Have you tried connecting to a stable WiFi connection to see if the issue persists?
Do you have any proxy, VPN, firewall, security software, or even ISP/router settings that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?
- kenternst2 years agoHelpful | Level 5
As I've mentioned, we have a very fast Starlink setup (30 to 110 MBPS speeds). We do everything on line daily. The only change was your last update when all this started. We travel full-time in a motorhome and do research, banking, communications, etc. with no problems. However, Dropbox has become unmanageable after your last update. If you can't offer any solutions, I will have no other option but to move my backup to another company. I'd rather not but trying to put the problem at my end isn't helping. This is a Dropbox software upgrade problem.
- Lakeysan2 years agoExplorer | Level 4I'm having this exact same issue, Galaxy s22 Ultra, Android 14.
Thumbnails either don't load when i open the folder or they'll load but when i hold on 1 to start marking them for deleting or to move them, all the thumbnails change to generic icons, so unless i remember what each photo looks like before i start marking them, its impossible to move or delete multiple files at once. - neptunejcn2 years agoExplorer | Level 4I am having the same problem after upgrading the app last night.

Glad you're joining in on this problem. Tech support, so far, thinks the problem is me

Hi Everybody,
A recent Dropbox for Android update addressed a thumbnail loading issue. Please update your app to the newest version. If thumbnails are still failing to load and disappearing, let me know and we can investigate further.
Thanks,
Ben
- Lakeysan2 years agoExplorer | Level 4App Updated, Cache Cleared, Phone turned off, left for a few minutes then turned back on again. Problem still exists unfortunately.

Sorry, but no change after updating your app and rebooting my tablet. Still difficult to get thumbnails to load and thumbnails still disappear after making one selection.

Is there an update coming to fix this issue? This has been going on way too long.

Hey Krugerbooger, have you tried clearing the app's and the browser's cache since you first noticed this?
If you did and this persists, please send us a screenshot of the exact error you're getting so that we can have a visual too.
Thanks so much!
- kenternst2 years agoHelpful | Level 5
Dropbox has apparently solved the issue they created.
- Krugerbooger2 years agoExplorer | Level 4No.... Issue still exists pictures do not open.

Hey Krugerbooger, would you mind sending us a screenshot of the message you see when you try to preview the content, please?
It'll help us get a visual of this.
- Krugerbooger2 years agoExplorer | Level 4I’d love to... How do I? Where the attach option?
- Walter2 years ago

You should be able to attach a screenshot via the camera icon (insert photo option) within your reply's box Krugerbooger
If you're not seeing it, you might want to use another browser or even request the desktop version of the website if you're on a mobile device.
Keep us posted!

Thanks for the screenshot Krugerbooger
Are you able to view those files on the website normally? Did you try clearing the app's and browser's cache as I previously suggested?
- Krugerbooger2 years agoExplorer | Level 4
I did clear the cache. it only made the phone app loose all the thumb pictures. the boxes are there, with no picture. the website now shows no pictures at all. However it shows my 4.75gb of 5.25gb is full..... with nothing there to view. 😥
BTW thanks for the help in this matter

Do you see any signs of them in your events page, the deleted files page or the backups page perhaps Krugerbooger ?
- kenternst2 years agoHelpful | Level 5
Dropbox fixed their screw-up. It's working now
- Krugerbooger2 years agoExplorer | Level 4On the app I have boxes of where the pictures were.. on the website. There is nothing there at all. Pictures from 2002-present. Not in trash.. unknown where they went

Hi Digitalmithy,
I'm just checking in to see if you're still experiencing unstable thumbnails. This was fixed for most users when 378 released, so it could be a different root cause.
We remove shared links here on the community since they can generate unwanted traffic, but you can attach a photo by replying to this post and clicking the camera icon above the text box. If you're still having trouble, let us know and we can go from there!
Thanks,
Ben
