My .gif files are uploading as images.
I have tried naming the files different things, taking out certain special characters, etc. Every time I upload a gif file it won't play and then when I click get more info it tells me my file is an image

So, just to clarify, when you download the file using the official download button on the Dropbox site, it doesn't preview as an animated GIF in your image previewer?

but when you download them they still aren't loading as gifs

The maximum limit for previewing images in general is listed here, and for GIFs, the limit is 100 MB.
As the image you're mentioning is over that limit, this is likely to be the reason that it isn't previewing.

it plays as a normal animated gif and the extension is .gif. I am saving this file from After Effects/Media Encoder as an animated gif

No, Dropbox doesn't provide such a service. They don't do screen sharing, and phone support is only available on paid Business team accounts.

Are you sure that the file is an animated GIF? While all GIF files are images, not all GIF files are animated. The animation in a GIF image is just one possible form of the GIF file type.

It is still not working for me and I am unable to share a screen recording due to the size. Is someone able to screen share or give me a call so this can be resolved asap? I am trying to preview through dropbox, I've also downloaded the gifs from dropbox and it does not work

Hi paigearnold, when you upload an animated GIF to the Dropbox site, it would be labelled as an image, however, it should still animate on the site when previewing the file.
How are you trying to preview the file itself?

Hey paigearnold, thanks for posting here.
To narrow this down a bit more, can you clarify which Dropbox platform you’re using to upload your .gif files and then, preview them?
Were these files saved on your local device before that? Are you manually uploading them to Dropbox, or via camera uploads (in case you’re using the mobile/desktop app)?
Let me know, once you have more details.
