Searching Not Working on iPadOS Files app
Hi,
According to this link: https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/mobile/ios-files-app
I should be able to search for stuff in the current dropbox folder when accessing it from the iPadOS built-in Files app. But unfortunately this is not working for me. No matter what I search for, the result is always empty, even if there's only one file in the folder. I'm using the latest iPadOS and Dropbox app for ipad. Any idea how I can fix this?
Thanks!

I’m so curious how this kind of major functionality fail doesn’t get a class action on Dropbox. If it was apple it would’ve ended up class action long, long time ago.
Dropbox, stop it. Just stop it. Admit that your search function does not work and just work on it and come back here when you have something that actually works. - Stanners19804 years agoHelpful | Level 6
Just posting to add my incredulity to this thread.
Over two years has passed since my inital post on this thread and, still, there is no fix to an issue which appears fundamental to many users including myself. To add insult to injury, Dropbox will not even acknowledge that there is a problem.
Dropbox, I've currently halted my subscription, pending a resolution to this problem. It's annoyed me too many times to warrant giving you more money. Here's how to bring me back on board as a customer:
1. Acknowledge the issue.
2. Do not tell me to open a ticket, or try rebooting or reinstalling. I've done all that, many times.
3. Provide your paying customers with information on what is causing the issue, and how and when it will be fixed.
Thanks!

Hey everyone, thanks for your patience here.
I checked with our engineers and it seems that what you're experiencing isn't directly related to our app. It has to do with the Files app and how Apple integrates and works with the files you have in your Dropbox app.
Your comments on this have been quite helpful, and I will do everything I can to ensure that your voice is heard. I'll forward your feedback to the appropriate areas so we can continue to improve.

Just reviewed this thread, seems like this has now been a problem for at least 3 years. Rather than a wait another 3+ years I have upped my Apple storage plan, and as soon as I have some down time I am going to start transferring out of Dropbox. It’s a big job, I’ve been with Dropbox for years, but this clearly isn’t moving towards resolution…

so..
should you guys work with apple to resolve it then... perhaps?

Hey KatRat!
Like Megan mentioned above, it looks like this issue is more related to the Files app on your device and not Dropbox, as our engineers suggested, as well.
However, your comments on this have already been sent over to them, so that they can take them into account.
- xtcforever4 years agoHelpful | Level 6Guys if you are all keen let’s create a separate Facebook or another sms forum etc to plan our action. I like many others am not interested in monetary benefit etc but if it is what it takes I’m ready to leave a similar end to class action etc etc - yes I’m not legal background but I’m sure there will be someone who could help us out for this kind of issue. If you are interested please pm or leave a reply here.

I have the same problem. For me is a nightmare. If I use a spliview, I can search in the dropbox app. But when a try to drag and drop a folder, dropbox doesn't recognize it as a folder. If I do it en apple files app, I have to manually search for the folder, create a subfolder and manually pass the files.
If you want to export a file to the dropbox app, you don have a search box in order to put it in the right folder.
Is imposible to work with dropbox in an iPad. I've been paid the dropbox profesional subscription for more than 5 years..... Impossible to migrate to Icloud.
I hate dropbox.
