Video freezing when trying to preview.

I have downloaded longer videos from a dropbox folder, and a few minutes in, the video freezes. At first I thought it was because of the editing software I was using, but changing it didn't help anyt...

my videos are usually done with my external webcam 640x480 in mp4 format and friends are viewing the links on their phones, I am using Google Chrome. I have not tried a different browser as I use Chrome with my Google TV, acct and login to dropbox with Google. For some reason its the format, mp4. I use Format Factory to change the format to .mkv and those videos don't freeze. I did experiment with 2 friends. same results. mp4 freezes and only if I reformat will it play without freezing.
