How can I delete the backup from my Dropbox?
hi
how i delete the backup from my Dropbox?
Hey Werner 7, welcome to the Dropbox Community.
To delete your backed up files, first you'll need to disable the backup feature.
This will give you the option to move the backup files back to their original locations.
If they're still taking up space in your account, even though you followed the above steps, you can try to delete them from your backups page.
Let me know how it goes.

Hello - I just disabled the backups for my free account, and I want to delete the existing backups.
When I go to the Manage Backups tab, I don't see any backups, but in the Subscription Manager, it says that I have 38GB stored in Dropbox (though I only uploaded about 1GB).
How can I resolve this?
Thank you

Hey jkabrams! I hope you’re doing well.
Just to clarify; when disabling computer backup on your Dropbox account, did you select the "Keep content in folders on this PC/Mac” option or to “Leave content in Dropbox”?

Hi Nancy - when I checked today, my account is back down under the storage limit, so maybe it just took a while to update.
Thank you!

I am getting really frustrated with Dropbox, somehow someone on my PC has managed to set the sync thing going and now all the crap on my pc has filled up my dropbox account.
I used to use Dropbox as this was the only way I could send my photos on my phone to be printed, so I would upload them to dropbox on the pc this would then sync to my account and when the photos were printed I deleted them from the folder on the pc and all good.
Everything keeps telling me now that if I delete the files/folders/backup in dropbox that I will lose it on the original source place as well. which I don't want.
All my files are kept on an external drive (came from the PC crashing and me losing everything a year or so ago) any files added to the external drive also get backed up to another place. If I disconnect the external drive and then delete the backup from Dropbox will that save my files? I am really confused and frustrated (didn't even know it was doing this)

Hi Rincelex, I'm sorry to hear about this, let's see what we can do to make things better!
Based on the situation you described, it sounds like you're using our Backup feature for your external drive.
As a first step, I suggest that you follow these steps, in order to disable your Backup. Once that's done, I believe that everything will be back on track. Want to give it a go?
Let me know more!
