I changed my password, and lost my files. And now I can't restore them to a previous version.
Windows 11 on a MSI desktop pc
I have the basic Dropbox. I recently changed my gmail password and was prompted to restart Dropbox. I thought it would open my original dropbox with the same name but it seems to have overwritten it and all my files have disappeared.
I did a system restore of my pc but that didn't affect Dropbox so tried going into properties and restoring a previous version. Clicking that brings up the files but I'm unable to complete the transfer because the files are "write protected" and I don't know how to disable this. Can you help please?
If you've logged in with exactly the same account your data would be there, so, my guess here is you actually set up a new one by mistake (which is quite common).
When you go to http://www.dropbox.com/events what does it show?
Can you search your emails for anything from mailto:no-reply@dropbox.com ?

Hi Mark,
I must've set up a new one. Does that mean the old one is lost
The events section just shows what I've done today ie added the app and also linked my computer.
The only mailto: no reply is from you. - Lostwords1 month agoNew member | Level 2
Yes, you were right...this is embarrassing: I accidentally set up a new account as my Dropbox is actually on another email! Thank you for your help.
