I can't delete/download my backup files, in case my computer crashes.

If your computer crashes or something happens to it...the backup that is essentially a "FOLDER" of you data is inaccessible without that original computer. If you OWN the data in that folder...you should be able to download it and delete the information in that "FOLDER".

How hard could it be to simply request that the folder be changed from a "BACKUP" to a "FOLDER". Not a hard concept.

Why is this not a thing? How hard can it be? 80% of my 2TB account is now USELESS because I can't delete the files.

HOW DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE?

I have reqeusted the "BACKUP" be unlocked. For some reason they can't do it. I find it hard to believe this isn't a simple "folder permission" thing. If I can download it...I should be able to delete it and make room for other data.

Are you seriously willing to lose customers over something as simple as data retrieval and disposal? Data is locked? And can't be unlocked? Not flexible. Not practical. Not functional.

Epic FAIL. Dropbox. You aren't the only backup solution on the planet earth. RELEASE MY FILES.

You absolutely can delete your files, whether they're files that you're syncing normally, or a backup that you've made. There are just different ways depending on what you're doing.

Can you provide some details into what exactly you're trying to accomplish (deleting synced files, deleting a backup, etc.) and the exact steps you've taken?

You can still download your data, otherwise it would be a pretty poor backup system (not claiming that it's perfect, by any means, as it does leave a lot to be desired in a backup system).

Give us some details about what's going on and we may be able to assist.
