I can't see my PDFs on Dropbox online, and can't open them locally, as they have a grey X icon

So here is the situation, I moved files on my computer in drop box and it seems to be mainly a problem with pdf's. The files are still listed on my computer with a little grey 'x'over the icon and the computer gives an error message that they can't be opened. There is no record of the files on my online Dropbox account. I recently updated from a single user to a business account and wonder if maybe the data was lost? Is there any way to recover these files.

    Welcome aboard the forum, CPRIV!

Can you send me a screenshot of the X icon that’s currently showing next to your Dropbox files, as well as one more of the error you’re receiving?

If you’re on a Business plan, can you check www.dropbox.com, and let me know if you can see a personal folder under your account name? Are your files located inside it perhaps?

If not, have you checked your Deleted files and Events pages?

Finally, I’d like you to clarify the current syncing status of your desktop app.

    Keep me updated.

Hi CPRIV, if the icons are showing a grey X, then this is a conflict between Dropbox and Windows using similar icons. Do you currently have OneDrive running on your machine?

Are you able to temporarily quit OneDrive to see the sync status of the Dropbox files in Explorer?
