I got an email from Dropbox stating some files would be deleted on 05/26, but I can't find them.

Hi Dropbox Support and Community,

I received an email from Dropbox notifying me that some content shared with me by the Love Team will be permanently deleted on May 26, 2025. The email included a CSV file listing the shared content, but when I check my Dropbox account, I no longer see any of the files or folders. The shared folder appears empty.

Unfortunately, I no longer have access to the original email account the folder was shared with, so I can’t request a fresh invite or get a new link. However, I’m still logged into the Dropbox account that received the shared content originally, and I do have the CSV file that lists all the file names and locations.

Is there any way for Dropbox support to help me recover access to those files or re-enable the shared links before the May 26 deadline?

These files contain photos I’d really like to keep, and I’m hoping there’s still a way to retrieve them.

Thank you in advance for any help or guidance.

Thanks for the screenshot, tomtom989898! Do you happen to share any files/folders with a Dropbox team under the name of “WJC CVE”? Based on the email you received, it could be that the team is currently in locked state and your common files will get deleted on the 06/26.

If you check your Dropbox account directly, without clicking on any buttons/links provided in the email, do you see any files shared with them?

That is the thing though, that "WJC CVE" does not ring a bell, anyway to find out?

Without clicking on the “Open CSV” button in your email, can you go to your Shared tab here and check if there are any files/folders that are shared with that team?

    Hello,

I just received the same email, and when I search my shared tab like you said above, I found a CSV file titled "2025-06-18 Content shared from Your team pending deletion.csv" that was supposedly created by my account, and that listed one folder - I checked that folder (by searching for it) and it had no files. Is this just an automatic function when someone who shared files with me deletes them, or is this a scam of some sort?

Hi Paleonut, this would be a genuine email from Dropbox, as it should contain information about the content in the shared folders you have access to.

To view the names of the shared folders, open the CSV file in that email. Please follow the instructions in that email and save anything you want to keep within 14 days of receipt.
