I lost my files after permanently deleting them from my desktop Dropbox folder

Device
(Macbook Air)

Question or Issue
Hi, I have a huge problem, I accidentally deleted permanently (not just left in recycle bin) a folder which contained all my University notes and assignments of 4 years, and I now cannot seem to access them anywhere. They were not saved on iCloud, and Time Machine wasn’t set up. Any solutions?

I am scared I have lost them all once and for all. Tried to restore them via dropbox online but said no files were found.

Hi from me as well, Matthew C.29.

If you go to the home page in your Dropbox account online, do you see any files? And if so, could they be the files you're looking for?

If not, I'm afraid there's not much else we can do at this point. 😟

From my iPhone, nothing appears as well. I tried every solution but it seems that nothing is working.

Upgrading to a Dropbox plan with a longer version history isn't retroactive, since you would've needed to have the plan originally for the history to be visible. After 30 days, the files would be permanently deleted from the site if they were deleted.

From the looks of it, there don't seem to be any files on your account that you would be able to restore, unfortunately.

Is it possible that you have any other devices connected to your account for you to download the files from there?

Yes, I have tried but there is nothing there unfortunately.

I have also tried to purchase Dropbox Plus for Rewind but still did not work.

Okay, this would mean that files wouldn't have been syncing for those months.

Have you tried checking the Dropbox site under the link I posted previously?

    Hi Jay,

I had deleted the Application a couple of months ago, but yesterday I deleted the entire Dropbox Desktop folder.

Hi Matthew C.29, thanks for messaging the Community.

Just for clarification, did you delete the files from the Dropbox folder first, or the Dropbox folder entirely, or uninstall the Dropbox desktop application?

In the screenshot you attached, there doesn't appear to be a Dropbox folder, hence my question.

Do you see any deleted files on the Dropbox site?

This will help me to assist further!
