Notify us when we're removed from a shared folder, and allow us to retrieve our files.

Dear All, I would like to suggest that when an owner removes a member from a shared folder - we get a notification of deletion. It is important to track this as sometimes we don't even realise when we are removed from a shared folder. this can happen for various reasons (for instance, migration to other systems, changing data policies). additionally, it would be good if some members (who had access and contributed to the folders by uploading files) could be given the chance to retrieve at least the files that they have uploaded to the folders. this would also help with ownership and prevent data loss. Another idea is to possibly allow (long-standing) members who have been part of shared folder for, say, more than 3 years - to retrieve the folder if needed, when this is deleted. Just some ideas.

I'd disagree - sometimes you need to remove somebody without them knowing (e.g. contractors etc.).

When an owner removes somebody from a Share they are asked if they want the person to keep a copy of the share or not, so, if they say no there is clearly a reason for that. Its also sometimes possible to rejoin at http://www.dropbox.com/share if you need to and the owner hasnt totally locked it for you.
