Storage says it is full, but it is not
Hi,
I'm new to these forums, so please bare with me.
I have an account with folders shared with me by my employer. We have plenty of storage, but when I log in I see a message every time saying I am almost out of storage. No one else on my team sees this when they log in. I did previously have a large folder with a lot of images in it, however I have completely deleted that as well as deleted it from the trash.
When I click on the plan page, here is what I see:
Personal Dropbox spaceUsing 1.93 GB of 2 GB
Regular files (0 bytes)
Shared files (1.93 GB)
Unused space (74.18 MB)
I would love to speak with someone at DropBox directly, but it does not look like that is an option.
Can anyone please help?
Thanks in advance!
Hi jen2fe
You are nearly out of space - you only have 74mb of space left based upon the data you posted below. Shared folders use up the quota of every person within the share UNLESS you are a licensed team member of a Business plan. So, your colleagues either have more space, a paid plan or are part of a paid team.

Hey hfiumano & Upstate Cate, could you confirm what is your plan tab showing in regards to your quota at the moment?
Also, can you let us know how large the folder you're trying to add to your account is?
If you could also send us a screenshot of the errors and/or notifications you're getting, I'd appreciate it.
- Upstate Cate3 years agoExplorer | Level 3It’s OK; I’ve solved the problem by stopping using Dropbox.
- Vika853 years agoExplorer | Level 3I am constantly receiving emails from Dropbox that I might lose my files if I do not upgrade with the explanation that I do not have sufficient storage. They mention I am over my limit (2GB) but when I go into my account I have 5.75GB and I am using 4.61GB. Does anyone knows what is going on?

Hey Vika85, sorry to hear about this.
Can you let us know what your plan tab reports in regards to your quota at the moment and when's the last time you got this email?
Thanks!
- Vika853 years agoExplorer | Level 3Hi Walter!
Thank you for getting in touch!
I have a Dropbox Basic plan with a personal Dropbox space of 5.75GB in total. The last email I have received was on September 3th, and I have been receiving the emails rather often since a while now. I’d appreciate any help!

And what about the used space Vika85?
Are you near your account's quota limit? How many emails have you received about this so far (recently)?
- Vika853 years agoExplorer | Level 3Hello Walter,
I have 5.75GB and I am using 4.61GB.

Hi from me too, Vika85!
Do you mind sending over a screenshot of one of these emails you keep receiving? I’d like to have a visual.
Just make sure to mask any personal info that may be showing, like your own email address.
Apart from that, can you clarify what’s the email address of the sender?
- Vika853 years agoExplorer | Level 3Hi Nancy
Im not sure how am I supposed to send over a screenshot? I can only post but not upload. The email is: no-reply@em-s.dropbox.com
If you and your team believe this might be a phishing email, would you kindly confirm?
