Will my Dropbox files get deleted once I reset my computer?

Hello,

I recently purchased a WD Drive external harddrive for my computer because it is on the verge of crashing. I plugged in the drive and it automatically prompt me to upload my files to dropbox. I have no problem with that because I already had an account, I expanded it as well to make sure I had room for all my files. My question is, since my computer is on the verge of crashing, once I load all my files over to dropbox and reset my computer or eventually purchase a new one, will all the files be deleted from my dropbox or will they remain on there as I need them?

Thank you for your support.

Thanks for posting your question here, byanez02!

Once your external drive has been backed up to Dropbox and you can see all of your files normally on www.dropbox.com, you’ll need to unlink the desktop app from your computer, before resetting it.

This way, you can make sure that whatever happens on it, the files you have stored on your web account won’t be affected.

You can check how to unlink/log out of the desktop app from this link

If you have any other questions though, I’m here for you.

Your files are safe on Dropbox. No matter whether you change or reset your device. Just remember the password and email of your account then you don't need to worry about anything. Your data is safe until you deleted it by yourself.
