Cannot access my desktop

Hi!

I have a mac. One day I came on and all my desktop icons disapeered. Once I went to finder>desktop it said that I no longer had permission to access this. After lengthly conversations with Apple- they said that this was due to a third party cloud service such as google drive or dropbox. Upon some investigation I saw that my dropbox had backed up my entire mac, and I was out of storage. I messaged help center and they said that I can uninstall and everything would return to normal. That didnt help. So i decided to upgrade my plan and reinstall to see if that helped. That did not either...

My end goal here is to get permission back to access my own desktop and to rid myself of dropbox. I am horrifically frusturated at this entire experience.

Sorry to hear about your experience, deborahoakandlorestudios

As a first step, can you send me a screenshot of what you see here?

Also, have you perhaps followed these steps to disable computer backup on your Dropbox app?

    Let me know.
