Difference between shared folder and family room

My team used to each have an account subscribed to the plus plan and we shared a folder to access the files as a team. We recently decided to start a family plan and are wondering what exactly is the...

Please make the Family Room optional. It is so easy to add an option to disable or delete this folder. I just upgraded to Dropbox Family and Family Room interferes with my use case.
