That's pretty strange indeed. The Dropbox app shouldn't alter your photos like that.
I just tested this on my end, but I couldn't reproduce it; can you check your Camera Uploads settings by tapping on "account" and then on "Camera uploads"?
There should be some options there about how to save your photos, can you make sure they're correct?
