Endless syncing with high CPU usage on Win11
Hi,
i‘m using the up to date client on windows 11.
My local dropbox contains 15.000 files. And he takes more than six hours to sync the files.
What‘s wrong with dropbox?!?!

Thanks for posting on our forum, StenApp! Let’s have a look.
First off, have you taken a look at this Help Center article regarding high CPU usage? If not, please check it and let me know if any of the info there seems to help.
If not, I’d like to know your Dropbox app’s version.
You can also try uploading a very small file to your Dropbox app and see if it’ll still take about 6 hours to finish syncing.
Keep me posted for any updates.
- StenApp2 years agoExplorer | Level 4Hi,
i checked, i have less than 20.000 files to sync. It uses constantly 34% cpu and 4GB ram and the cpu is a 4core one, running all cores to more than 95 degrees celcius.
Small uploads via website are fast.
No unfortunately your hints didn‘t help.
I run Dropbox v198.4.7615, it has the same issue as v198.4.7615. - StenApp2 years agoExplorer | Level 4I have a visual studio project to sync, uploading per website tells me it‘s skipping empty files, i guess that’s what‘s broken in client. Because i never get under 1600 files to sync but all files seems to be in sync.

Hmm I see. If you upload a small text or image file via the desktop app instead, does it sync normally to the Dropbox website?
Also, the empty files that you mention, can you tell me their file extension?
If you check your desktop app’s Sync history and Activity tabs, do you see any errors?

I created an empty txt file, the app syncs and it apears on the website, if i click it i get error 415.
App hangs with syncing 952 files, but shows no errors.i think the empty files are txt files.
Hovering over the dropbox icon i see:
Dropbox 198.4.7615
400 files being indexed
2 files uploading
552 files downloading
but no change at all
- StenApp2 years agoExplorer | Level 4Where went my edited reply?😳
I created an empty txt file which syncs and appears on the website with error 415.
App activity shows 952 files to sync and no errors.
When i hover over the taskbar icon i see 400 files indexing, 1 file uploading and 552 downloading,
There it hangs - Jay2 years ago

Hi StenApp, are these files related to compiled code? Are you able to use this feature to prevent certain local folders from uploading to the site?
- StenApp2 years agoExplorer | Level 4
No not all files seem related to compiled code. I cannot see which files are pending, dropbox just shows me a number.
I remember that i deleted 1 file which dropbox desperatedly likes to upload, why, don‘t know.
The rest seems to exist on my drive but dropbox likes to update them.
I dislike that i don‘t see a list of files with path that changed or got deleted.Right at the moment i cannot test exclution of files.

If you open Explorer and navigate to the Dropbox folder, can you see which files are being indexed and uploading by the sync icons on the files or folders?
- StenApp2 years agoExplorer | Level 4I see folders being indexed but the content is up to date
