I unlinked-relinked after syncing was stuck, but now my files won't update online

  • Drop box was stuck on indexing for about 4 weeks
  • Because of this my laptop had not synched or backed up for about 4 weeks
  • To fix this i read that i could manually downloaded drop box update, this did not work.
  • Then i tried logging out and in again. This worked..... Kind of.
  • Drop box started synching again but i noticed that its synching all folders that were selected from the latest online version, and not updating the versions i edited.
  • Aka. dropbox wants to sync the files new
  • All old files that were stored locally but in the dropbox folder are still locally stored, but not in the dropbox folder anymore. Now they are in library > cloud storage > dropbox (25-10-2023 23/29)
  • I am als unable to sync due to to little storage on my macbook.
  • But the problem lies with that all files that were local are stored locally but not updated online in the past 4 weeks.
  • i also can't manually update online because my now local folder also reads the online stored files that were not locally stored( files with the cloud icon)

Is there any way to update the folders online with the locally stored files, so i do not lose my files?

Hey joelhempenius, sorry to see you're having syncing issues.

Just to confirm, where are the newer versions of your files stored right now?

Are they in the Dropbox folder that's now in ~/Library/CloudStorage or are they stored in a different location?

What's the sync status of the Dropbox app currently? You can hover over your Dropbox icon to see that.

And if you add a test file to the Dropbox folder in ~/Library/CloudStorage, does it sync to your account online?

Let me know and we'll go from there.
