I upload Excel files to my desktop app, but they only sync after restarting my Windows device.
After a recent email from Dropbox my Excel files do not update in Dropbox after I copy them to the Dropbox Folder If I turn the laptop off and then on again, then they appear as updated. What's going on, they used to update or sync on their own in 5-10 seconds!
Nancy Hi Thanks for the email. I am still trying to figure out what happened that I could not sync. my excel files manually copy/pasted from the laptop to the dropbox folder in the same laptop. I uninstalled Dropbox from the laptop, restarted it, installed Dropbox, restarted and still had the problem. I regularly keep an image of my latest functional system, using Clonezilla. So I reloaded that last image (a week old) and went from there. When the problem arose again I did SFC /Scannow as administrator, allowed it to fixed any issues, restarted, uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox. The issue was than solved, but it took a while to get things going again. So it looks like it was NOT a Dropbox issue!! Thanks for your time. Dan

Hey there danielneotropico welcome to the community
Are all files having a sync issue or is it only excel files? Are you using the Windows version of the Dropbox desktop app or the MacOS version?
What did the recent email from Dropbox say? I'm trying to determine the connection between these two events

Hi
The email talked about the on-line off-line options, but i did not make any changes
I work on the excel files on my WIN11 laptop after I finish manually updating that info in 6 files. I copy them to the Dropbox folder for Excel Files. Before the email ( could be a coincidence) the files in the Dropbox folder would sync or update in 5-10 seconds, it they took longer it was an Internet thing. But they have always updated until a few days ago, and after that email.

I use the Dropbox files to monitor and use those files from my iPhone using Excel. I do not modify the files through my phone only at the laptop!

Hi from me as well, danielneotropico! Can you send me a screenshot of the Dropbox email you received, to have a visual?
Did you have any kind of other Dropbox/OS updates on your computer, right before you started noticing this behavior?
Finally, the next time you add an Excel file to the Dropbox app, I’d like you to give it couple of minutes and then check its syncing status and the app version that it’s running.

Hi Nancy I erased the email as I was not going to do any modifications to how I was going to use my files, on or off-line! I was going to continue doing what I have done for years now. Work on the Excel file at the laptop, copy it to Dropbox, monitor the information through my iPhone but make no modifications to the data through my iPhone, only a one way traffic from Laptop to iPhone. Until a couple of days ago when the files stopped updating unless I restarted the Laptop.

What version of Windows are you running on your machine?
Could you try reinstalling the Dropbox desktop application, without uninstalling it first, by using this link?

Are you saying that this might be a momentary glitch and that it should take care on its own?

There is a possibility of this, which is why a reinstallation of the Dropbox desktop application would be one of the first things to try out to ensure that the app is working correctly on your machine.
